A stake should relieve stress not add more pressure and stress, at least thats what I thought. Lets hope this goes well ahahahah. fml.

Anways, update from last night. Put in probly 12 hours. Down about 70$$ couldnt win a flip at the right time. Really feel like Im running horrid, and its at the worst possible time. Playing well from what I can tell, just gonna keep grinding away. Gonna get kush and get on the grind round 3. gl all

Dont know if stars still has the 3$ 45man Sngs and the 4$ 180s but if they do you need to be all over those tourneys. MTTs are nice when you have a decent roll but from what im reading you dont. Those tourneys I mentioned are soft and will help you build one. For now I would stop trying to bink a big score and start grinding your ass off. I wouldnt even touch MTTs until you have in the $1500 range. GL OP

This is solid advice, multi-table sng's are the way to go if you have already burnt through $250 of the $500. MTT's are so risky in your position, grind the mt-sng's for a month and then second month add in some mtt's.
  3. Ty, I will be taking your advice. As per usual The grind started off great today, Built large chip-stacks in 5-6 tournies very quickly Im now on the losing end of 10-12 all in pots in a row in which i was a large favorite, and short stacked in all of them. Im literally hitting my head against the desk. LOL soo sick the way ive been running as of late. Taking the advice and only registering for 4.50 and 2.50s the rest of the night. fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

Big thank you to this man for his advice and v1llain for endorsing the idea and to anyone who told me the same thing earlier on in this thread. I think I stopped playing mtts with about 150$ left. I started playing purely 4.50 and 2.50 180 mans. Binkd off 2 of the 2.50s and a couple more 4ths and 5ths in the others and Im back up to a 400$ roll. I actually felt like a grinder for once, I had 16 tables going at once! I know thats childs play for alot of you but fuck Ive never really done that before. It felt pretty fuckin sweet though. I plan to do the same tomorrow and see if I can get similar results. It has never occurred to me that playing 12-16 sngs at a time all day could provide a decent and consistent income. I might be getting ahead of myself and maybe I just got lucky in a few, i guess only time will tell. Still , overall the way I ran today left me feeling like a masochist. It had me asking myself why I inflict this sickk pain onto myself and if its even worth it. Answer=...100% worth it. I ran like a bag of shit all day in mtts and did sick in micro 180man sngs, Im feeling good and hoping to bink something tommorrow. Plan is to 8 table 2.50s and 4.50s mixed in with no more than 2 Non turbo deeper stacked tournaments at a time. If Im runnin good Ill try and mix in a couple more mtt's If not Ill just cut them out completely and and stick too the sngs....I need that chance to bink something nice though... goodnight all and good luck

  5. Nice... I think the 180 mans and 45's are going to be much better game selection and not as much risk to your BR. You just don't want to put yourself in a spot where you are risking 20% or more of your bankroll in one session, otherwise, no matter how good u are, you are settin urself up to get pwned by variance. Even risking like 10% of your roll in a given session seems like too big of a risk. It sucks having to grind small, but it's the only way to ensure not going busto.

  6. Agree with Manch about the importance of br mgmt and not leaving yourself exposed. Practicing good bankroll mgmt is the most under valued skill in poker in general. The thing that really sux about it is that you have to omit games from your schedule that you know you are a favorite in. In some instances you have to omit games that you are a HUGE favorite in. Your skill level compared to the field really shouldn't be a consideration in whether you add that game in your schedule. You need to earn the right to play in that game and the only way to earn it is by being properly rolled for it.

I mean I'm currently playing small stakes mtts and I'm practicing a 150 buyin rule, calculated by abi. And even at this pretty nitty br mgmt strategy I'm still risking ~8% of my roll per session and this still feels like too much to me. Pre BF I'd never risk more than 4% of my roll during any one session.

Also by practicing a conservative br mgmt strategy you will insure that you move up levels more consistently. If you are risking too much of your roll per session it only takes a couple bad days to be in a really bad spot and having to drop down.Ignoring proper br mgmt strat allows you to play in bigger games and have a chance at binking something but it also creates more volitility in your schedule, constantly moving levels and changing your schedule. There really is something to be said for grinding the same schedule every day and getting used to how those particular mtts play and the players in the game. It really helps in building confidence too.

But yeah, stick with those SnGs until you can't stand them anymore. Literally. Grind the shit outta those things. And then practice a proper br mgmt strategy.

  7. Good to read that you found something goood OP !!!!!

Like the idea of builing with the 180 men, specialy thoses 4.5$, less variance than the 2.5$ Turbo but as you shipped some already, go with confidence !!!
Mixin' slowly with some MTT here and there is the nuts coz once you have your routine with the sngs that will insure your stability, you will have the willing to do good in the 1/2 MTT on the side and bas per my experience (i played like that years ago on FTP) the balance of this is just great !!!

Also like said hereover, pre BF i was playing max 5% of my Roll per session and feeling 10% is pretty high.
To tell you, was up to 4K on FTP in 2-3 month playing upt to 5$ FOs and up to 3r then I went down to 2.5K while playing stirtly the same schedule and taking no real shot (sometimes a 10$). I was waiting till 5K to go up as I wanted to play a very solid BRM w the multientry stuffs and then BF came to destroy everything.

  8. My sure fire plan of grinding 2.50 and 4.50 180mans has not worked in the slightest. I was -70$ after about 52 mtts yesterday. Today Im not sure but I am probly at 30+ mtt's and I am down 100$ on the day. I have mixed in a couple mtts and overall its been hell. I really dont like to blame things on running bad but it seems to never end. even on my + session I still ran like shit all day. Its been like this for a week now. Its like Im playing bizzaro poker where when I make good calls and I get it in good it I lose and when I get it all in with the worst hand and make a bad decision I win. I have never experienced this kind of run it really blows my mind. Enough bitching about variance though cuz clearly its a pussyhole thing to do. BANKROLL = 230$. In one last mtt right now, Im gonna see how that goes and decide whether to continue or not tonight. GL all.

Edit: This one to end the night. Hope tomorrow brings me better luck.

  9. You should probably drop the 4.50s at this point. And just grind the 2.50s.

  10. With a total bankroll of $230 I would definitely just be grinding $3.50 18-45 mans for low variance and $2.50 180 mans like TVG said. Also, I would consider not posting bad beats which are part of the game, and post spots where you weren't sure if you made the right move. Best of luck!
  11. Everyone here is such a bankroll nit! Or a professional what ever you want to call it HAH. Thanks for the advice guys, I will check out the 3.50$ 45 mans and cut the 4.50's. As for the bad beat post, I was steaming and found that it was a fitting end for the session I had, just really rattled by the end of the night. I'll be sure to limit those in the future, because, obviously, most of you see that 20 times a day and dgaf.

  12. Even the best players can go broke if not following decent bankroll management strategy. Really the only alternatives to decent bankroll management strategy are to either be in the position to reload at will (in which case your effective bankroll is higher than your online bankroll) or have a backer that allows you to play higher. GL
  13. Hello everybody,

Just starting up what I hope will be a positive session today. I havn't posted in a while mostly because I find it pointless to update you people with tales of break even and marginally + - days. That has been the trend over the last week. I feel like I started the month with alot of fire and put in alot of volume the first week or so. But after running the way I did during that time that optimism and motivation has sort of hit a brick wall and taken a step back. Or at least that was the case a few days ago. I took a couple days off recently and feel recharged. I have played 400+ tournies this month with a roi of -4%. Pretty shitty I know. But I have only avgd about 200-300 a month over the last year, so at least I know my lack of success isnt from lack of effort. That is something I cannot usually say. Anyways got about 6 tables going now ill wrap this up. GOAL: 1000 tournaments by months end. BANKROLL= 200$ +100 coming in next week from pay pal. Need 500$ by the first to pay staker and 600$ to cover rent. Time to be a sicko. Gl all and me.

  14. i really admire your work ethic and belief

the sad bit is that this is going to be a never ending cycle, i mean you hit a 2.5k score an here you are needing another 1.1k in 20 days on a $300 roll.

its not going to end unless u can secure ur rent for 6-12 months with living expenses and a roll seperate. your going to just get yourself in more debt. get a job at least 3-4 days a week, im sure lots of part time jobs like bar work can sustain ur rent and you can grind up a roll on your days off, im sure after a year or so you will be in a much better position to give poker a go.

Probably the best advice I've gotten in this thread. Although I wouldn't say my work ethic is anything to be admired. Maybe my new found one, but my lack of work ethic is what has gotten me into this situation in the first place. Keep in mind I have been doing this for about a year now and have always put forth a lackluster effort except for when it really counted at the end of the month. In my defense, I really had no idea what I was doing and still don't feel like i do(most of the time). With every 2-3 months that went by I would find myself thinking or saying "holy shit I cant believe I used to play like that or I cant believe I was buying into those stakes. While at the same time beleiveing I had finally figured it out. In reality, I was a fuckkking donkey and I still am, but at least Im more aware of it. I have always slacked at jobs, I got kicked out of grade 12 with like 4 credits left and never got them, I Had a sweet commision job with 60k+ a year potential that I would go into and do absolutely nothing at, for days at a time. Then eventually quit. The point I am trying to make is that I have been a habitual slacker since I can remember. BUT! I am willing to put forth an extraordinary effort for things I believe to be important and things I find value in. .....This Is something I want very badly, and I didn't even realize it until the last month or so or I had at least forgotten how much I had wanted it. And when i say "this" I mean poker as a successful career. The whole 2013 MAIN EVENT DURPADURRP Is all fine and good but The main event is every year, I gotta walk before I start running. And moving to niagara falls may take a little longer than I had expected. Things change and life without poker brings alot of variance, so life with it can make for some real swings. I was very optimistic when starting this thread and still am but the timeline maybe a little different now. WHO KNOWS THOUGH RIGHT!?!? Maybe Ill get a roll tomorrow, satty into something, and bink off a 5 figure score tomorrow. I will be putting in as much work as I can over the next 2 months until this staking deal is over. A "real" job will be pursued if at the end I dont make an amount of money I feel is worth the amount of work I put in. OR when I go broke. I am fully confident in my ability to play this game, but am also fully aware the odds of me going broke are very high. BUT, one thing i lacked in the past was the effort, I am hoping the hard work will in fact pay off and I can continue this as a career and start stacking K's. All I know is that I get a sickening sense of comfort when I look at a screen of 12 symmetrically placed tables on a big monitor and a roll behind to play with. Btw while writing this went busto in all 10 sngs I was playing LOL! broll at 135! feeling confident tho! gl

  16. Hello everybody,

My level of enthusiasm for keeping this thread updated has faded a lot over the last couple of weeks. This mainly due to the consistent losing sessions I've had all month. I haven't ran good and at times i certainly haven't played good. Overall, I feel like this game has sucked the energy and happiness out of me. I really try to not let it but I have very little time left and reality is setting in. I most likely will be giving my landlord notice before the first unless I can hit a miracle. And I still have to give this staker 500$ on the first or I am going to owe him a lot more money. All I can hope for right now is a fucking miracle. With all this being said, I will not be quiting poker, or even quiting on the idea of doing it for a living. I really believe I'm a capable player, and with a decent roll and less pressure I think I could make a comfortable living. As for now though I will most likely be taking a 2-3 month break while I sort out some things financially. I have some decent options as to where to live and everything, but they are options I really don't want to resort to. The future is not set in stone though and who the fuck knows what could happen in the next month. I have about 70$ spread out over three accounts so its not completely over, but its looking grim. I must admit I have been playing like shit over the last couple of sessions so Ill start with trying to change that. Gl to everybody on your endevours. TIME TO DIG DEEP!!!! MIRACLE BINK TIME BABY WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

  17. There is still hope...took 3rd in the 4k guaro f/o . A whopping $480... Im back playing on merge, and have went broke on stars. Have a couple fts in the last 2 days and feeling good about my play. Merge has always been good to me, and Im hoping to bink 2 more 500$ scores before the 26-27th. I know it sounds crazy but I honestly think I can do it. I feel like Im playing a whole lot better than my mid month form. I need to have a broll of at least 1300 by the 26th to continue living at my residence and pay off the backer. That would leave me with 200$ to grind after paying shit off. Current roll 535$....hoping for a big sunday. Gl all..

  18. Hoping to get some advice on this hand for those who are willing to decipher the shitty Merge HH. The guy is a rock something like 11/5/2. 3 bets to double my bet pre. At this point I am about 90% sure im beat and call hoping to hit a j or have an a/k high board so that i can fold lol. Board comes all low. after hesitating i bet half pot, and he insta shoves me...I end up calling without even knowing why, im 99% sure im beat. Sure enough AA. I dont bink a miracle gg crippled stack. Do i just fold jj on a 7 high flop after betting out? Do i fold pre? I dont know, I bet out half pot with the intention of possibly folding to a shove, then called anyways lol. Bet folding flop best play? Someone help!

  19. really gross spot if i read the hh correctly... u open JJ from a 24bb stack utg and get 3b small from a nitty player whos playing 20bb. It's a puke spot tho I'm usually just 4b jamming and hoping he's inducing with AK or something. Not sure if this is optimal tho, If he jams pre it's a pretty easy snap, but when they size it like that is screams strength, and with u being utg, I don't think hes 3b/f basically ever so he's gonna be nutted here, it's just a matter if he does this with AK or AQs ever or just shove those hands. I feel like merge has so many setups and coolers in spots like these with stack sizes that u just basically have to get it in even tho u know u are going to be coolered often. I am glad I do not play on that shady ass network anymore.

  20. Thanks for the reply man in regards to the HH. It is a realllly gross spot. I know Im beat but its hard to get away from it.
As for this thread, I understand It is losing interest, and understandably since it lacks a very important element to any thread and thats progress. I will be updating my situation soon for those who are still following. but it will haft to be at the end of my current session. Things arent good but I think i have a real opportunity coming up in regards to poker. Ill update later. In the mean time, good luck all.

  21. Hello everybody,

Came up short this month in regards to making rent. And I had to withdrawal 500$ to give to the loanshark. So basically, I have 150$ to grind with and no money to live on. AND, I still owe this cocksucker 1260 by the end of next month. All for 500$. Clearly I made a really shitty deal for myself. The idea was that Ive made aprox $2100 per month since starting poker about a year ago. based on that I told this pos that i was looking for 500$ for 30% of what I make in the next 2 months. Now at the time I thought this person and myself had at least a mutual respect for one another and he wouldnt mind helping me get out of a tight spot. I was very wrong in assuming this. Anyways, based on the numbers I gave him it worked out to him making approx 1260 on top of his 500$ based on avgs over the last year. I explained obviously this wasnt guaranteed and if i went broke I would give him his 500$ and at least and additional 500$ for the 2 month loan. The cocksucker wasnt content with that and quickly wrote up a contract basically stating I had to give him a total of 1260+initial 500. I was obviously desperate at the time and let myself get talked into it, and at the time I was very confident with my game and thought I could pull it off. The other stipulation was that if I did go broke he would give me the other 500$ and I would owe him the equivilant to 40% of the figures I gave him equaling another 500+. Anways the contract also stated I needed to pay him 500 at the end of the first month to know the moneys coming in. Well I lost his 500 about 10 days ago, made 100$ and have been playing on my own coin since. And since ive been playing on my own money Ive been doing fairly decent. SO as it stands Im about to go " Pay dat maen his moneh", come back and try and have a successful sunday.

Im aware of how incredibly stupid I was in making this deal. And will not be borrowing money for poker anymore lol. There is light at the end of the tunnel though. A family member Is helping me with the rent this month and this same family member is going away for 4 months come january. I have the option to live there rent free with my gf and Grind while they are gone. In return I'll be drywalling their basement which I would do for them free of charge anyways. So until then I will be grinding my ass of,f and possibly getting a job soon if I go broke(broll at 150). But i am looking forward to having 4 months of grinding expense free. I really think I can save up some money and come april Ill have a nice roll and be able to move out with some security. So thats the plan everyone. Ill be giving notice to the landlord soon and moving out by dec 1st. It all seems bleak right now but I think this really is a great opportunity to finally get ahead. GL to everyone on their sunday grind, a lot of money is going around today and hopefully some of awesome degen gamblers and refined calculated pros can scoop some of it up. GL all and good day.

  23. So I went to "Pay dat maen his moneh" on sunday and things got pretty heated. I don't want to explain the whole story because it would require a lot detail about his character and our dealings in the past. But basically this dude has some serious issues with trying to control and manipulate people and I'm not really about that. Without going into to much detail, after he stakedme we had a few conversations via text msgs, mostly about how poker was going. And during these exchanges he was very disrespectful towards me and basically acted like a real piece of shit. The man has a long history of making everyone he comes in contact with eventually hate him. Anyways, Ill be fucked if I was gonna let some little delusional piece of shit think he can treat me like he treats his wife and employees, so I started being a real smartass with him which he didnt like much, but things were civil Until I showed up to pay him. He asked me to come in, which I did reluctantly(told him I was in a rush but he insisted). He started off by asking how the month went even though he already knew it was shitty, he then went on to tell me poker is bullshit and that I have a severe gambling problem and need to go to gamblers anonymous to fix it, and if i do so hell drop the remaining 1200 I owe him. When I try to explain to him that he has a misconception about me he tells me Im full of shit and ruining my life. So at this point I tell him I don't like the way he talks to people and that hes a disrespectful piece of shit, karmas a bitch and hell get his eventually, and then assure him he'll get his money at the end of the month but not to text or call my phone until the day of. He then has a temper tantrum and gets In my face barking at me like a rabid dog about how im a waste of life and a piece of shit and tells me Im on his property and dares me to assault him on his own property. LOL at this point Im staring him dead in the eyes about 1 inch away from his face as hes screaming all this shit at me while I keep a poker face the whole time. I just turn around and start walking away as he stalks me down the driveway, telling me im his bitch for the next month and that Im a bitch over and over, so I tell him to call his goon squad on me and that hes a pussy( when I originally made the deal, he was bragging about how he got some hired goons to forcefully get a contractor to pay him back some money) and sarcastically tell him hes a big boss man and repeat "u dah boss" a bunch of times as I continue to walk away and he continues to rage yelling back "i am the bOSS!! Im the boss of u for the next month" (the guy was raging so hard and acting like he woke up and sniffed an 8ball or something LOL). Anyways, I kept composure the whole time and it was all very amusing to me. The man clearly didn't like hearing the truth not unlike most humans. So on my way back I start getting rage texts from this faggot, so I get fed up and text back some reallll cold shit to him, shit so deep and degrading to his character that it melts his brain and he breaks down. He blows up my phone with pathetic attempts to attack my self esteem as if I was some woman he was trying to control mentally. Just straight weirdo shit like, telling me I look like shit LOL! and that no one cares about me LOL! For the record I have a very loving family, many awesome friends, and a wonderful loving girlfriend so when I got that text I actually Lol'd. Bottom line is the man has issues and I am happy to be done dealing with him. Fortunately, I was talking to a family member a couple hours after all this happened about my upcoming move and they mentioned something about my stake(they knew I owed someone money, not the details or who or about what just happend but that I owed) and said they wanted to cover it for me and I could pay them instead. I feel very blessed with how it all happened and usually I would of refused and just paid him at the end of the month. but after all that happened just a couple hours earlier I was happy to never haft to deal with that pos again, and happy i have such a supporting family. I know its been said before, but when it comes down to it, all you really have in this life is your family and your close friends. Nothing is more valuable. They are the only people in the world who REALLLY genuinely give the slightest fuck if you exist or not, so treat them well and don't let petty bullshit get in the way of a healthy relationship with them. To wrap this up, I told this newly exposed man-child to meet me in a public place to get his money in the full amount the next day. He didn't say shit to me this time being off his own property this time. I was mentally preparing to fight him for 2 hours prior and it was all for nothing lol. The mental preparation would probably have been in vain anyways considering hes a total pussy from what I can tell, but u can never be to sure and I haven't fought anyone in over a year. SO, I paid this man in full and took 2 days off. Im feel fucking awesome! Moral of the story, try not to borrow money from anyone ever, if u can help it, but if you do, make sure the person you go to at least has some respect for you...
I now officially have the next 6 months to grind rent free. I simply haft to feed my self. I am hoping I can make the most of this opportunity cause I feel like its now or never, if I can't make the kind of money I would like too by the end of it, I will officially be putting an end to my poker career aspirations. I had a broll of about 150 to start today and may haft to get a part-time job if I go broke, but I see nothing but good things in my future. Looking forward to updating with tales of big scores and increased stakes in the months to come. It may take a little while to get going since I will be working on rebuilding a decent roll, but stay tuned It could get good. Gl everyone, see you at the tables!!

  26. Been lurking since the beginning of the thread. Good luck. I would definitely recommend getting a job for some early padding to the roll, and then focus on playing well and staying within proper bankroll management.
