TD bank exists in both countries, however in the US they are "TD Bank" and in canada they are "TD Canada Trust". even though they're both "TD", theyr'e actually separate companies and you can't access your accounts from the other. i.e. if you have a TD account in the US and you go up a branch in canada, you can't access your account. sure, your atm card will work in their machine, but your atm card will work in basically any bank's machine all across the world

they claim they're gonna eventually become 1 country or at least have the ability to access both accounts, but they're probably a few years off from that
edit: why are you asking this question, what are you trying to do?

Scotia bank is best choice they have a relationship with bofa and can make withdrawals in the states against your scotia account. Plus they were the most lax in allowing me to open account. Try the location on sherboucke and don't be shy about telling them it's for online poker and u should be all set.

I now have an HSBC account and would suggest going that route. Initially I opened a RBC account, I did no transfers to or from poker accounts with it and only used it for grocery, coffee, etc type transactions. Yet 3 weeks later they forced me to close it claiming they had done a background check on me, found out I was a poker player, and in light of possible money laundering could not keep the account open. I post this because I find their action incredibly unjust...but it is what it is...enlightenment ftw.
