I am also curious about this point- does it matter how someone tries to rip you off? -
guess the biggest advantage with multi accounting is masking your true identity at the table and ppl not having the right reads, other than that its jst a way to increase volume
obv gets bad wen ur on the same table
not condoning multi accounting an do accept its cheating but there are def worse forms online -
do you think that traffic violations, petty theft, burglary, robbery, and murder are all equally abominable?

with online poker, integrity and reputation are a HUGE part of the game, basically hiding behind a false identity is as bad as it can get.
if he was looking for action THAT bad, he should offer some type of challenge, not scam people. -
you think that's the worst type of cheating that occurs in online poker? are you aware you're allowed to have multiple screen names on merge, so JM could have played anonymously if he wanted to?

get a clue guy -
So its ok that he played anonymously on a lock pros established account against regs who had no clue who he was
-
dont think ne1s saying its ok but its def not the worste type of cheating
-
I think you'd be very surprised to know how much MA is done in high stakes online cash...
-
so JM playing on this guy's acct......when he could have played on any random account he wanted to......is just as bad as the Portuguese kid superusing his buddies on Skype...because "cheating in poker is just theft and cheating" [whatever that is supposed to mean]

So are there acceptable forms of cheating in poker? Or is it simply a question of "there are forms of cheating in poker that everyone knows about and it's just a part of the game because you can't really catch them."
I'm glad I suck at poker. I would hate to be good but honest and THAT be the reason I can't be profitable. -
I'm not saying JM didn't do anything wrong, it seemed like he did some very shady things.
Nevertheless, the term "multi-accounting" should really only refer to people who use multiple accounts in the same tournament. The act of having more than one account name is against terms of service on most sites but is definitely considered a much lesser offense and many players have played on accounts other than their own at some point in time.

but when someone as known and regarded as JM uses another account to play someone with as high stakes as he does, and its usually HU, then to me thats a huge deal. Some fish with 5 accounts is obv against the rules, but you HS players should realize how much your play is dependent on who you are playing against... -
just listen too his phone inteview. imo he wasn't coming all the way clean. there was smthn else going on [scam], not just playn under a false identity. i dont care wht any1 says those fools were up too no good together..........iwill say this on AP/UB u were allowed to have 2 names 1 per site and i used too get ticked off on a bad beat or smthn log off enter the sister site log on my other name and re-ENTER, some dude said i was cheatn, i said report me,ITS ALLOWED.Instead the lil whipper snapper ran too all the tables tht i'm a cheat, than he finally goes too support and they shut his hole for me.I just find it hard too believe tht there isnt other names they have and i wouldnt doubt if they were at same tables killn it,I MEAN CMON THIS GIRAH DUDE JUST BECAME A CON WITHOUT INFLUENCE HMMM I'LL ROLL MY DICE THAT ITS DEEPER THAN KNOWN...............and if its a case where he just wanted action and i'm wrong than i'm wrong ..i just know that its very hard too bust some1 and have 100% accuracy on info

Yea, its definitely unethical. I'm not saying it isn't. Just saying its two different offenses incorrectly labeled under the same title of "multiaccounting."

the way i read it they wasnt his accounts they were dih and girahs. which makes like if i run deep in tourny and get some great player to finish it. thats what makes it bad worse then opening up your own ma s. hey im 40k stuck np ill call jm. he will jump on and play my account.you think your playing girah but its jm . wtf

And he gets a full page picture in Bluff magazine prior to the WSOP ME with this quote from Jungleman12:

"I noticed that people had not given back to the community without taking a piece of the action. Thought a really nice thing to do is to put someone in while not looking for anything in return".
This, in regards to putting a friend into the main, which seems like a really 'nice' thing to do, but was it based on a guilty conscience?, ...oh the irony -
If he gained equity that he wouldn't have had otherwise by breaking the rules then he is effectively stealing (equity). If you steal 10$ or 100$ your stealing just the same.
Whether or not he gains as much equity doing this vs someone who plays two accounts in the same mtt is difficult to calculate . I don't know high stakes cash but I imagine he would/could gain alot of equity doing this or he wouldn't bother.
I can imagine if he did this alot he could get alot of equity . If a person were to mulitacct an mtt once or twice he might gain very little equity .
So who is more in the wrong, someone who cheats alot using extra accounts playing cash or someone who very rarely cheats by mulitaccting in tournaments? I would say its the one who stole more equity . I don't think the particulars of the crime make a difference, its the damage done.
It should be every players right to not play a game with someone that they don't want to play with . If making a new acct on a different skin is legal then he shoulda done that. He didn't tho.
I have no proof but If I had to guess it would be that this wasnt the first time he has done this. How many drunk drivers get caught the first time they drive drunk ? I hear the stats are that most people drive drunk 80 times before they get a DUI. What are the odds that the first time he used someone elses account to 'get action' he gets caught , pretty high I bet. -
best post in this thread. agree 100% with everything.

When your hauling a trunk load of dope, and the cops pull you over and ask, "do you have anything illegal in the car, I detect the odor of marijuana"...You come clean and offer him the joint in the ashtray..Its your only shot at not having them search the trunk....
