The DOJ is doing such good work. Continually wasting tax dollars to justify their existence.
On a separate but related note; I just read the John Edwards indictment. Now don't get me wrong; he's a lying-cheating-lowlife-asshole but the case the DOJ has brought against him is a joke.
The DOJ wasted our money investigating him so even though they found no crime they have to indict and prosecute him so they don't look bad. (Long story short: a few of his friends gave him money to hide his mistress, the money was never "campaign funds." The DOJ takes the position that even though the money used to keep her hidden was never actual campaign funds, hiding his mistress helped his campaign so they file charges against him for spending campaign funds that never were campaign funds.
Edwards deserves whatever shit storm comes his way but the American taxpayer shouldn't have to foot the bill.
Talk about a rigged game. -
The govt needs to stop ruining ppl's lives by unfreezing the funds so ftp can finally facilitate cashouts and get poker regulated in a quick timely fashion. The nation is billions of dollars in debt it would make perfect sense to regulate poker and legalize weed to raise revenue but the govt is ran by old conservatives with their heads up their asses.

This isn't even close. You're post is is correct tho and it's only a matter of time.

You might argue that the previous Republican party is responsible for starting the problem by Bush signing the UIGEA bill in the first place. Well I agree! Bush departed from the principles of the constitution many, many times. However, conservative political philosophy denounces these incursions into our freedoms. Bush was a conservative in name only, what real conservatives such as the Tea Party calls a RHINO, Republican In Name Only, just like his dad was. That does not excuse embracing a political philosophy that actually "encourages" big government, and then points the finger at the jack booted thugs, that they appointed (the DoJ) for interfering in our livelihoods.
For Cohen or Barney Frank to denounce the current administration, over any manner of big government interference, is as disingenuous as it gets. The entire philosophy of the Democratic Party is to increase the size of government in order to regulate more and more of our freedoms to promote their socialist agenda. I dare any registered democrat to honestly denounce big government.
It seems that the (PPA) has no regard for how other groups rights are being violated everyday by the politicians they endorse, i.e. Cohen and Frank. When big government gets the PPA’s members rights in their crosshairs they (the PPA) wants to run and squeal to the other parent of the nanny state that they have helped create. Saying, it’s not fair to take our rights away, but never standing in solidarity with those such as the supporters of the 2nd amendment, when their constitutional rights are legislated away.
Oh no, there it is; this guy is a gun nut. No, I am merely making an analogy. Do not jump to an ad hominem train of thought here, as I know the socialists reading this will automatically do. I am just saying; that because someone commits a gun crime, and that guns are scary, that does not give anyone the right to take them away from us as a whole. The 2nd amendment of the constitution protects us from exactly that.
Still not getting it? Someone cheats at poker, or loses his family Fortune because of a gambling addiction, and that gambling is scary, because of the cheats inherent to the industry, and the real possibility of addiction, your right to make a living as you see fit is taken away by big government. Do you get it yet? If you support a government big enough to take your neighbors rights away, then don’t be surprised when they come after you. Stop being a special interest group and start being “Americans!”
Can’t you see how absurd it is to create this monster (big government) and not expect it to bite you also? The only solution is to vote for less government. I am a Libertarian. I want to enjoy life, liberty, and pursue happiness without government interference. If I do harm while exorcizing these inalienable rights, then I should suffer the consequences as an individual with no further punishment to be exacted from any group I may represent. That is not to say that you should vote Libertarian. I only counsel you to control the size of government by actively reaching out to those that support less government and more individual freedom.
So now our little group has been touched by these out of control tyrants that the PPA has supported. I know, “tyrants” is a serious accusation. Read about Ruby Ridge, or Waco Texas, and you will see how tyrannical the DoJ is. Instead of demanding that the industry reform itself, the PPA is pleading for legislation so we can play under the watchful eye of Cohen and Frank’s party. Keep in mind, if you’re playing at the devils table, you won’t beat the rake. -
Great post Mike

The DOJ is not releasing any funds. Ever. They have JACKED OUR MONEY. Fact. Sites are being forced to pay players with other funds. I dk why we arn't rioting against the government, way more at fault.

But stars handled it in a way that nobody could seize the player funds. FTP was stupid and poorly managed.

Good post Mike. You would think the southern new york district of the DOJ would be working on the housing bubble and derivative frauds that took place in thier district in 2008 that caused a global recession and more families to be homeless and broken than poker could ever. P.s. Special interests groups just create division in our society. (United we stand divided we fall). 1 last thing i'll mention is an old natural law.... If you don't fight for what you have you lose it eventually. (Constitution)

wtf kind of pants is this guy wearing in the pic?

I'm glad someone wrote this article, though shocked it came from fox news. it's really the first time anything has been published that really shows the human factor of poker. not just the government taking away the rights of its citizens to gamble online, but literally taking peoples jobs away. Poker is pretty unique in the sense that usually in time of recession, the best of the best in their field can still find work, but thats not really case for online grinders. if some 9-5 company man loses his job, it sucks, and he might have to take a shitty job, if he's lucky enough to get one, but he's still usually living that respectable life style. for a poker player to get a 9-5 job is a complete mind fuck
