Let's continue telling the Payroll Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance, and Medicare Physicians Payment Fix Conference Committee to include online poker in their discussions. The committee needs to resolve this matter by the end of February, so the timing is perfect for us.

If they don't act, we still benefit by the effort itself, as the members of the conference committee are leaders in the House and Senate! These take just a couple of minutes each, so thanks for participating:

    1. Let's send the Conference Committee members + Sen. Reid & Sen. McConnell NEW tweets urging inclusion of federal online poker legislation: HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE.
    2. Let's post and like pro-poker comments on the Facebook walls of Conference Committee members Sen. John Barrasso and Rep. Dave Camp: HERE, HERE, and HERE.
    3. Let's post and like pro-poker comments on the Facebook walls of Senators (not members of the Conference Committee) John Boozman (R-AR), Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Scott Brown (R-MA), Sherrod Brown (D-OH), and Richard Burr (R-NC): HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE
Please reply in this thread with "tweeted", "done", etc. to encourage others to participate. The past 147 actions have generated triple-digit participation, so let's keep it growing. Thanks!

    --------------------

If you wish to do more today, let's reach out to the Senate Indian Affairs Committee membership via Facebook with respectful requests for them to support poker at the 2/9 hearing. Simply like the pro-poker posts and make a supportive post of your own. When commenting on preexisting lawmaker posts, please be sure the post is appropriate for pro-poker comments.

  8. Trip report:

This week, PPA attended the Conservative Political Action Conference for the fourth consecutive year. It went well for us. It's important that we represent there and elsewhere within the conservative movement to keep this issue bipartisan. We go to progressive conferences as well, of course.

    Me, Drew, and Dave

Almost everyone who spoke with us was supportive. Greg Raymer was on hand to sign autographs and to talk about our issue to attendees. A couple of people did want to debate the tired talking points from a half-century ago, but I made short work of that.

We did a lot of media relations, both mainstream and poker. I broadcasted my OnTilt Radio show from there live, did an interview with QuadJacks from there as well, and did a wrap-up interview later that evening with Short Stacked Radio.

Greg Raymer and I were interviewed by Voice of America for a broadcast in China. The reporter was very interested in how Americans can organize and stand up for their rights against laws they'd like to see changes. She said that doesn't happen in China. It's sad that too few Americans will make the stand IMO, but I'm proud that so many of us are. Here's are a couple of pictures from the interview:

The Senate Indian Affairs Committee hearing went very well too. Patrick "Skallagrim" Fleming was invited to testify before the committee, which was outstanding for us as a community to have one of our own invited before that body. Being silent in the run-up to UIGEA certainly didn't earn us an opportunity to testify before the Senate.

Contrary to the random thoughts a couple of posters here have posted, everyone whom we spoke with on Capitol Hill was very impressed with the grassroots social media advocacy of the poker community. It was apparent throughout the hearing that they were well aware of the support for online poker.

    Skall, Sen. Akaka, and me

Afterwards, we hosted a joint happy hour with Americans for Tax Reform:

Online poker is clearly being discussed on Capitol Hill. Let's all do our part to ensure Congress hears from us!

    1. Let's send members of the Senate Homeland Security Committee NEW tweets requesting addition of online poker licensing to the Cybersecurity Act: HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE.
    2. Let's contact more Senate Homeland Security Committee members via Facebook: Sen. Levin HERE; Sen. McCain HERE; Sen. McCaskill HERE; Sen. Moran HERE; and Sen. Paul HERE.
Please reply in this thread with "tweeted", "done", etc.to encourage others to participate. The past 162 actions have generated triple-digit participation, so let's keep it growing. Thanks!
