  1. Hi everyone

Not sure if many will read this. And I apologise if its too long, just wanted to provide some details to help reveal me as a person and wanted to introduce myself on here. I've been a lurker for a while without contributing anything and have decided to improve my game further and meet some new people in poker, I have to become more active in these sites. So thought I would write a bit about my background and who I am.

My name is Ben Whitby, I'm 23 years old and live in the country town of Wagga Wagga NSW, Australia.

I have a full-time job at the moment, which is insurance sales and have been there for 3 years, pays great and the perks are awesome too! Fully paid for car that I can use for personal use, phone and laptop (can't use the laptop for poker though... Lol). I achieved all of this without even finishing high school. Infact I was a branch manager at one of the major 4 banks in Australia by the time I was 19.

Poker wise has been interesting for me - played when I was like 15/16 online at a room called bugsy club. Started after I visited my dad in USA (he used to live there). Used to think I was good, won a couple of free rolls on there, and had home games with mates regularly.

Just sort of stopped playing after a while (didn't know anything of strategy/poker pros back then!) And life moved on. Fast forward to December 2011 when I moved in with my mate sketch (etchy09 on stars). He was telling me how he plays poker etc etc and got me up to speed with the poker industry (excuse the nativity, but I hadn't heard of BF).

Started grinding, and watching and asking him a ton of Qs. And have become more and more addicted to it. Not gambling side of it, the improving my game, strategy side. Training sites, videos, articles etc etc. and with a couple of decent 4 figure scores recently I don't think its long before cracking a "big one".

In saying all of that though, I'm under no illusions, there are huge leaks in my game, and I can be a bit spewy at times, but hey, most people are in the development phase are they not? And this is the "next step" for me in terms of development I believe, whichis why I am here.

If you made it this far, then thanks for reading. Welcome to talk to any and all whenever you like. Drop me a line sometime.

    GL at the tables!

    Hey man,

That's my view as well, in an ever evolving game you should always be open to learning.

It's pronounced "wogga" as well lol. The word "Wagga" means crow. Wagga Wagga means place of many crows. It's an aboriginal (indigenous Australian) word. They used to have a gay tourist campaign song with it as well:

"Don't call 'Wagga Wagga' Wagga. Cause 'Wagga Wagga Wagga' is wrong."

    Thanks for the reply man.

  11. Hey Ben,

I don't live very far from you mate! I am certainly not a "pro" but did make a good profit on Tilt for SNG's and a little for MTT's / Cash. I did play full-time for a while before I realised I was not good enough to make a living out of the game.

Anyway, I am a little out of touch as I play very little volume these days but I am willing to talk strategy or anything poker related.

Feel free to drop me a line, and good luck on the tables!
