  1. Im looking for a laptop that i can run two external monitors off of. I know the new macbook has two thunderbolt ports but i'd like to know if there are any cheaper laptops that could support two monitors running 2500x1600 resolution before i have to shell out $2200. I know the older 15 inch macbook pro can run two thunderbolt monitors if u daisychain but i dont want to specifically buy thunderbolt monitors. If anyone has any answers thatd be great, thanks. Also, don't mention anything about usb adapters. Those suck and cause lag.

  5. Why do you want to run two monitors off of a laptop ? You are obviously gonna get all this plugged into your laptop at home and then play poker from home. You aren't gonna drag two monitors and your laptop down to Starbucks to play poker. Buy a full sized desktop computer to run the two monitors from home, and then just buy a cheapo laptop for traveling around. Tiger Direct has full sized Intel Core I-3 desktops for under $500 with 1TB hard drives. These desktops will run two monitors very well right out of the box...no need for additional video cards or software. Keep all your important stuff on the desktop, and then travel around with the cheapo laptop. Craigs List is full of cheapo laptops for under $200. Forget about Apple crap. Apple crap costs three times what it should cost and some poker software won't even run on Apple crap.

would recommend craigslist for a cheap laptop, just watch it for a week or two and you will see some great deals pop up. just got an alienware with i7, 8gb, 1gb vid card for $500. I wanted to be able to play games on mine but if you just want one for poker you can find a really decent one for $200-$300 or maybe even cheaper depending on your area
  7. I recently picked up a Dell XPS 17 for my grinding. Running three displays off it, the laptop display and two external monitors. Made up with it.

do you need a docking station to run the external displays?

I'll test that one for you when I get home. I've not tried it without the docking station.

I'm running one screen by DVI from the docking station and one by a mini displayport to DVI adapter.

There is also a HDMI port though so I'm pretty sure you can but I'll let you know for sure later.
  11. I had a check and yes it does work without a docking station.

I have two DVI monitors so running one via a HDMI to DVI adapter and one via mini displayport to DVI adapter.

I would recommend having a docking station though, less messy, gives you alot more usb ports and you can run your mouse, keyboard, stereo, external hard drive and a monitor through it.
