  1. Simply put, poker should be legalised in N. Ireland. It makes no sense that games of chance, such as bingo and slot/fruit machines, as well as bookmaking, are all allowed while poker, which is a game of skill requiring maths, game theory, psychology and more, is not permitted. Lobby your MLA and local councils to change the law to make poker legal in N. Ireland.

  6. yes it has been banned since 4th of november,3 to 4 places closed that i know of.
    still played in pubs and that so the laws an ass for closing the well run official places but poker laws are strange worldwide.
    my local mla is sammy wilson of the dup so no point canvassing him mate be like flogging a dead horse,u know wot i mean

  8. I thought the US government was the only government treating poker as if it were some sort of evil sin inspired by Satan. Sad to hear the Northern Ireland government is doing the same thing...
  9. Its too bad Northern Ireland lets this be handled by the local council instead of the UK, since UK gaming laws are very consumer and gaming operator friendly.
  10. I thought poker was banned in NI for paramilitary reasons ? ( Too much cash in an unsecure place an easy target, plus money laundering would be ripe)

    Sure your only over the border, u reckon if a squad of lads wanted to rob a poker game they wouldn't be bothered to drive an extra mile or two?
