"if something is not able to be regulated and enforced to more of a degree than it is now, then what can you do?"
Oh, I don't know, but how about.....work to get it regulated & support bans on players who cheat by not allowing them access to your account?
I'm appalled at the attitude of if you can't beat them, join them some people on here have espoused. -
I am not saying what any of you should do...as I said, it's your choice for how you deal with it. But, DEAL WITH IT. JJ is dealing with the reality that the consequences are small for the gains he can make in his mind and that's how he is dealing with it. Now, the choice is yours for how you plan to deal with it.
-
I fully support someone who is outraged by this trying to regulate the environment, but in the interim, they can play "straight up" and deal, quit and play live only, or choose to do the same thing themselves....that's a personal choice.
-
PHX = cardinals fan holding the "get a brain you morans" sign
you sir, are royally retarded. br, save your breath this guy is either a complete assclown or a shill of JJs. i refuse to believe that any clear-minded, semi-educated (6th grade?) individual could really think this. -
Actually br, ppl who think that those who think differently from them ruin the world are the people who are wrong with the world.
-
and if this whole problem were to ever get solved to the point that JJ can't multi-account (or even play), will you be on here saying that people are crybabies b/c they couldn't beat JJ?
-
I support those who would be inspired to push harder for regulating the "industry" because of this event...that's an active response to the issue which I support. But, the passive whining and crying and saying how offended you are is just a lack of recognizing the world you live in and adapting.
-
i dont know why you people insist on justifying cheating/multiaccounting because you incorrectly state that "online poker is unregulated". Documented and admitted stealing (to say it simply) violates criminal law. What do you think, because poker sites are run outside the U.S., a U.S. player suddenly becomes immune from criminal liability? If someone pursued this seriously with the proper authorities, there is no doubt cimes were committed. It would just take someone motivated or pissed enough to alert the right people............................
-
Anytime you want to compare intellectual/academic pedigrees, you let me know...
-
I don't believe what you are saying, but if that's true, DO IT!!!!! That's dealing with it...my only point in my post. If you are so outraged, get off your asses and do something about it or accept it and deal with it accordingly.
-
phx why?
to be clear, you are aware that your statements are horrible for online poker right?
and please god, no more napster analogies. it is aweful on so many levels. -
I understand that JJ is a horrible piece of evidence for the future of online poker, but I'm not going to pretend he doesn't exist. He does exist and others like him exist, and my point is simply:
1. It's his personal choice to do it, and one that I think can be understood when you detach emotionally from it.
2. The consequences for him doing it are small....it would be nice if they were larger, but they're not.
3. Because of the above, you as an opponent of his have to choose personally how you are going to handle it.
napster or w/e method ppl d/l free music from is actually a reasonable analogy...except that those who now claim to be victims of JJP are actually the victimizers in the music d/l instance which understandably can create some distancing in their minds that they are the same...but they are. -
Shouldnt be hard to find which unknown won $200K+ lately
-
I wonder if the sunday million will hit the guarantee today now that JJ has quit multi accounting.
-
Well, its certainly true. Even if one were so inclined, one could commence some sort of civil lawsuit (i.e. pissed off high stakes player v. josh fields). If it had any sort of merit, you suddenly find yourself with the ability to subpoena anyone you wanted (friends of josh, witnesses, etc...).
if one were so inclined of course...................... -
Interesting. Well, then some of those who are so outraged by the whole thing ought to get moving on that....but I'm guessing it's just easier to moan.

For someone who is quick to challenge others to compare academic pedigrees you either have selective interpretation or reading comprehension problems.
At no point did I EVER say that I had any issue with someone having a different opinion than myself.
What I did specifically find fault with is your faulty logic that since we supposedly can't do anything about it then we should all accept it or lower our ethical standards to his so as to even the playing field. That's just plain weak.
I do in fact think that we are making progression. JJ and his cohorts have lost some money(granted not enough), they have had accounts banned, and they have zero respect. What they are now desparately doing is spin/damage control. They underestimated the demand of everyone that they play fairly, and they especially miscalculated the resolve of the sites and the community to isolate them and weed them out.
Nice try at deflecting where the focus should be, you should try aplying for a JJ crony position although those jobs aren't quite as desirable anymore. -
accept = recognizing as reality...you seem to confuse me for saying accepting=approving
So, what's the alternative to accepting the situation? Denying it is happening or is real? I am not saying you all should like or approve of him, but you sure as fuck need to recognize it and act accordingly. My only point is bitching/moaning/whining isn't action....and I LOL at you all thinking excluding them from your "friendship" or "esteem" is somehow punitive. -
I hear what you're saying, but I think that discussion and outrage can often times (especially on the interweb) be confused for cying or complaining.
I also think that if you don't properly convey just how outraged you are, you probably aren't doing enough to raise awareness and help get the industry regulated. I'd also add that I'm not sure how active we can be in getting regulation outside of joining the PPA. I mean ,sure I call my congressman/senators on a bi-monthly basis, but if you're argument is that you have to be organizing marches in order to be properly upset about people cheating, I have to disagree.
I can be outraged about people drinking an driving without joining Madd... -
I can't speak for anyone else, but all I will say is time will tell. I certainly will never forget the fact that you were once a cheater, and apologizing for a pattern of malicious and intentional dishonesty at this point in time doesn't really hold any weight. Show class, maturity, and above all integrity, and maybe your rep will be restored in time. Just don't expect too many people to buy you drinks at PCA.
Just to play completely absurd devils advocate for a moment:
Many people are saying threats of violence are over the line and ridiculous. However, would it be over the line to punch a man who tried to steal your wallet? At this point, hasn't JJ stolen the equivalent of a lot of wallets?
Just curious where people draw the line on violence in reaction to stealing.

Lol, are you backtracking or is semantics your specialty?
For the record, bitching, moaning, whining, emailing, etc. It all accomplished something as evidenced by his account(s), further accounts, cohorts accounts have been banned. Money has been confiscated.
Oh, and if our acceptance isn't punitive or important then just explain to me why he is posting his "apology" here. Simple, because he knows he needs to reduce the heat as he is about to venture out from his cave. -

BINGO!!! -
You owned players in poker well done welcome back!
-
Josh, Gbmantis, etc..
While this is a step in the right direction, as boke said, the timing is laughable.
Had you done this 4 months ago, it mightve meant alot more.
That being said, I still believe you did the right thing.
However, more information needs to be revealed if you are serious about coming clean once and for all. How much money did you make from the multi accounting? All of this money needs to be refunded somehow, or given to charity publicly, or something like that if you want people to take you seriously. You say you dont care about the money? Then throw your whole roll out the window and start over.
Words mean nothing without the proper actions to back them up. -

appoligy accepted

Most ppl would read "accept" the way I used it originally correctly...but you didn't, so I wanted to clarify it for you.
And I think the reason for apology is he is confused...and searching around a little bit for what to do. But, in reality, not having a "good reputation" or fandom or a pocket5s ranking or anything like that is actually a pretty negligible deterrent if someone wants to really commit to doing what he is doing.
