everyone should email her and let her know how many votes her opposition to online poker is going to cost her
-
tbh, not enough to make a difference
-
there are plenty of other reasons not to vote for her as well
-
a) She has almost no influence over whether or not any poker legislation gets passed. She is a backbench representative with an avowed opposition to legal online poker.
b) I doubt that whether it "costs her" would have any impact on her position. It's not as if HRC could organize a campaign to notify her that her opposition to gay marriage would "cost her" and that she'd suddenly change her tune. She may be crazy, but at least she's consistent with her crazy, and she's not going to be swayed by the political winds too easily. -
i hope she wins the R nomination or Palin. That should guarantee Obama a 2nd term.

Thank you Michele for making it less likely for me to move back to the US any time soon. <3 America, hate know-it-all politicians that think they know what is best for everyone.

Let's keep in mind the difference between a legislator who takes part in an effort to block legislation and one who actually has the power to galvanize such an effort. She may have played a role, and she may be touting that role, but she is almost certainly exaggerating her influence (what politician doesn't do this!). Remember, after the 2010 midterms, she launched an effort to chair the House Republican Conference, and she was blocked in favor of Rep. Hensarling. Many Republicans either think she is nutty, or ineffective, or dont trust her, at least in a leadership position. It's a huge stretch to think she pulls any strings as far as poker legislation is concerned.
