  1. Ok, so I have spent time searching old threads and still have some questions that hopefully people can answer:

    1) On pokerstars, with table at minimum size, how many tables can I have up with NO overlap on a 1920x1080 monitor vs a monitor with 1920x1200? I read somewhere in a thread you can only do 9 with 1920x1080 but can do 12 with 1920x1200, is this true? I read on a forum on FTP its smallest size is 480x359. So 1920/480 is 4, and for either 1080 or 1200/359, you get atleast 3 anyways, doesn't that mean I get 12 tables each no matter what monitor I use with the screens at minimum size? Or is the Stars minimum size alot bigger that 480/359?

    2) The reason I ask is because I have a friend who works at Future Shop, so I can get discount on monitors, but here in Canada, they only have ones with 1920x1080 available, the only ones with 1920x1200 I can find are the I-Inc 28" monitors from tigerdirect or other ones from Newegg which cost about $400. I prefer spending between $200-$250, is it worth buying a monitor at full price and paying over my budget to get a 1920x1200 resolution? I know the I-inc is $250 but 28" seems too big and I hear they have durability issues. I guess I prefer 23" or 24" monitors that way I can add a 2nd monitor later if I wanted w/o worrying about space.

    3) I just bought a new laptop recently on sale, its this one: http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/...533a735769en02

How do I know if it can support a monitor with 1920x1080 and/or 1920x1200 resolution?

    4) Does anyone know if I can get other monitors here in Canada at my budget with a 1920x1200 resolution?

    Thanks

heard alot of ppl say this monitor is pretty good for the value and half price of the dell....http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16824254052

your laptop has hdmi so im pretty sure you just hook it up through that...
  3. So does that mean 1920x1200 is a MUST?

I like to watch movies and shows on the computer as well and the Hanns G apparently has poor image quality and the Dell is over my price limit although it looks really nice.

    Thanks

  4. Seems like the minimum stars table size is 485x359 so you get 3.95 tables horizontally with 1920, 3 vertically with 1080 (1200 doesn't help much unless you want the taskbar showing or something). I guess you can easily overlap 4 horizontally so you should be able to get 12 stars tables running. 1920x1200 would be a bit more comfortable as you don't need to hide the taskbar.

Not a must, but I'd highly recommend it.
  6. I dont see any point in cheaping out on a setup when you are at the computer for such a long period of time per day. Maybe you dont play high stakes but it makes sense to invest in quality equipement if you play all the time.

That obv makes alot of sense but if I can fit the same amount of tables on the monitor regardless of it being a 1080 or 1200, I don't see the point of paying the extra amount to get a monitor with 1920x1200. I dont need the taskbar open because I will have that open on my laptop. I guess I'm just looking for the best value here. If I can't fit 12 tables on a 1920x1080 then I won't get it and Ill go for a 1920x1200.

At the end of the day I need a monitor that can have 12 tables up (without taskbar) and have good picture quality so that I can watch movies and hook up my PS3 to it. If I can do that with a 1920X1080 then I can get a really good one within my budget. If it can't be done, I guess I'll have to do as you suggested and stretch my budget so that I can get a good 1920X1200 that can do what I want because the I-Inc just won't do.

    Thanks

  9. Anyone know how to figure out what the maximum resolution is on a laptop? I want to see if my laptop can support up to 1920x1200 on a monitor.

    Thanks

  10. If you have DVI/HDMI out you are pretty sure to support 1920x1200 at least. The one you bought is fairly new too so it shouldn't be an issue.

No but I'm sure it will work.
  12. I have 1920x1080 and 12 table with just a tiny bit of overlap, not enough to be destracting or anything

  13. ever thought about hooking the laptop to a flatscreen? My friend went n put dual monitors on his PC...nice expensive ones... Less than a month later he opted to make his setup closer to mine...

I got a 60" vizio hooked up to my laptop...i've never had any troubles with the quality or resolution
