Poker Ethics Question

    My boy win a satty into a local tourney and selling me seat for half price and 20% of winnings. This is a re entry tourney. If I bust on day one and but back in on 1b am I obligated to pay friend anything if I win? I just want to make sure as I would hate to lose a friendship over a misunderstood agreement.

    Good lookin out & whatever u do get it straight & agreed upon first. I'm thinkin if u bust day one when he has a peice and re enter on day 2 u & buy yourself in & then cash etc it's all yours. There was a long thread a few months back about a similar spot, dude won 100$k+ iirc and there was a lot of discussion about it. Hopefully somebody can link it for ya here, I don't even know what to search for it under..

    No because you could just not re-enter. If he pays for your re-entries then thats a different story. Just make sure he understands how you feel about it before you do it. Any problems are easily solved by just getting on the phone to him now surely?

    If you pay for the re-entry why do you owe him anything? It's your own run in the tournament after that point.

    To be honest, if he has any problems with it when you discuss it with him just ask him to give you money for re-entry.

    Obv he doesnt have a piece if he didnt pay for the entry. If you bust and play anouther tounrey next week should he get a piece of that? I think if youre nice youll offer to sell him a peice of you in the rentry at the same rate as before, but other than that you dont owe him shit.

    If you lose the friendship then so be it imo, cause hes either too dumb to realize how staking works or he's trying to exploit you.

    That is what I was thinking. I was going to just pay the buy in but he said he can't pay next weekend and said he would sell under those terms. I have not bought ticket yet bci wanted some opinion on subject be4 getting into situation.

    Think you should be asking your friend. Personally I'd agree that he has 50% of me for the first and if I bink the 2nd entry i'd throw him his stake but yeah...get it sorted first!

    As long as nothing has been stipulated, I think a case can be made for him having a % even if you rebuy.

    Without rebuy he has bought 20% of winnings for 50% buy-in cost.

    If you pay 1 rebuy, he has paid still 25% of the buy-in cost, so might be entitled to 10% of winnings.

    I don't agree that a rebuy can be considered to be a separate tournament.

    No piece of the re entry. But there is nothing wrong if you were to ship him a couple of sheckles if you re enter and cash.

    Yeah no need to give a % on the second entry. just let him know if you do bust and plan to re-enter. And at least give his stake back plus a little something on top if you get a good score.
