  1. Is their anyone here who focuses primarily on the step system and actually crushes starting @ step 1?

I've made it to step 5 ONCE but no dice....

I really badly wanna go to PCA this year. Macau has HUGE dead money too....

  2. Once i busted my roll i started to play 60 fpp satellites into step one and two. One a few of those and built up to 4 and 5.

But havent progressed past 5 as a result of variance and bad play. The lower levels are def easy to beat although having to play to $2100 is a bitch. Wish you could sell the $700 tickets.

And i know you can play like a $700 qualifier. Would like to see the opinion of people whether you play a step $700 or a stt $700.
  3. serious value in the steps, i think probably best way to sataellite into the 215s
  4. Managed to win the 2100 to an EPT from a 7.50 euro step B once, which as you'd see from my record is pretty fkin sweet. Agree with others that they're a good way to go for the 215s. Dont throw the towel in early with a bad beat and be content to take 4th to stay at that step in that situation imo
  5. brag, ive won 10k seats from step 1 many times, and it rules, u get 10k t$ and can freeroll for days depending on your stake, or u can spend it all on a live donkament.
You gotta know what to expect from each step, obv step 1 play is SOOO different from step 6 play.
its nice to win step 4 seats and stop there (u can never have enough 215$ tickets)
step 5 is usually pretty soft, lost of spots payed and huge buyin so people play overly tight.
step 6 is always going to be tough, you have to play your game though and not think about the pressure and the buyin.
i definitely suggest after winning each step, to take a break and come back to refresh your brain from the end of sng style play (or wait til all of your tables are done if you are multitabling).
Multitabling steps is very hard unless u are playing all the same step number. (hard to keep track of the bubbles especially if 4 spots are paid in one of your steps while 2 are paid in the other)
i personally like turbo for step 1 and 2. then normal blinds for the rest of the steps.
btw a step 3 ticket in the fpp store is a great buy, good value, half the players are paid, and you already get some of the fpps back when you play.
prob the best hint i can give is in the early steps you can gain a lot of equity by shoving the bubble. The bubble should be less of a factor for you as in a mtt or regular sng, because instead of a min cash (2 buyins) its only a retry of the same step (1 buyin)
anything in specific you wanted to know about OP?

Thats so sick you actually won a few step 6's.

Do you play a loose early game or are you super tight like SNG style?

Would you share a HH with us step 1 to step 6?

Are you really in Afghanistan right now?

duffmancantread - I would also be interested in seeing a HH from 1-6. Due to character limits per post, a good way to go about this if you are going to do it would be to past the hands in 1 or more google documents and then link the documents. If you are going to do this, would probably be a good discussion in the PD forum. If you are not interested, fully understood.
  8. im in America, thats why im giving away my secrets lol.
it would be pretty hard to find all the step wins through all my hand histories, ive played 20,000 sngs on stars, if u have any idea of a good way to find them through all my HHs im game.
in step 1 and 2, im almost always forced to play really tight because theres a showdown every hand and play is so loose.
the higher steps, you find more tight players and have more chances to go LAG.

If any1 has an idea on how to find the HHs i won, let me know, with high volume and multitabling its hard to tell which step 1 win HH goes to which step 2 HH.
I found after awile with doing well in the upper steps, the time / brain power lost by playing step 1 and sometimes even step 2/3 wasnt worth it, so i usually bought in to a higher step with fpps or cash.
At one point i had so many t$ i just bought into step 5 and 6 a few times, (i only suggest if you have a LOT of t$ obv) its really the most interesting form of poker when the pressure is on for everyone, its a lot of fun and a good learning experience even if you lose. I got to play side by side with sickos like lilholdem, bustosoon, cptcrux, octavianC, nanonoko, stevie, etc.
  9. I never got past 5. Mostly used them for 215 entrys after a while. Step 3 has the best value as previously posted. I found step 1 to be a little tougher because of the payout structure. Kind of preferred starting with step 2.

GL, i miss the steps...Wish merge/bodog would come up with some sort of a similar tourney

Merge does have step sit and goes they are called Snakes and Ladders on Carbon. This is the pay out structure for the last step.

    1st $2000.00
    2nd $1250.00
    3rd $750.00
    4th $499.50
    5th $295.00
    6th $220.00
    7th Replay step 5
    8th Replay step 2
    9th and 10th Replay step 1
  11. Really? I am currently on rpm. I have accounts on alot of merge skins, but, would rather use most any except Carbon....
It doesnt look like rpm has these sng's. I will research other skins.
  12. Yezzir,

They have such a great structure IMO better than party and stars they just don't get much traffic probably because not many people know about them. I wonder if some sort of league or contest would stir up some traffic?

    Just FYI for USA players.
I just opened a Carbon account a couple days ago and funded it Western Union. The money was in my account in less than an hour after I sent it.
  13. good news. But what makes you think carbon wont get shut down like the rest?
  14. They very well could get shut down just like the rest. If I put money online these days I just don't expect to get it back and happy if I do.
  15. I've gone from step2 to step4 many times, not really hard and as someone previously posted u cant really have enough 215$ tickets :) ... currently working my way up the euro steps and on step F now, original plan was to satty into the san remo event but looking to play in greece now
  16. Got on my brother's FTP account last year without his permission, bought into a Step 1 and ran like God all the way to step 6. Knocked out Barney Boatman in both the step 4, then the following step 5. Brother gave me nothing for it and used the step 6 ticket for a FTOPS Main Event buy-in, which turned into 4-fig cash. All I got was this lousy brag :(
