  1. Not everyone is playing for the same reasons you are though McAndrews
Some are doing it just for fun and have no intention of ever moving up I think.

to recognize the u.s. players, one thing to do on the u.s. rankings specifically would be exclude people who are playing on stars/euro sites regardless of their listed location...if you look at the u.s. rankings right now, 3 of the top 5 have been playing on stars all year.

sure i may never get there but aiming for top of the micros will just stop me from trying to progress as much as possible

that being said, i wont even look at the micro/mid rankings so it doesn't really matter

You write a lot for someone who doesn't care and you shouldn't care - you are already ranked in the 300's on the main board, if I was in your shoes I wouldn't care either - but think back to when you played your first tourney - $3 buyin?, would have been good to have a lower leaderboard as a spring jump onto the next board (if you wish to increase your abi) and so forth onto the main leaderboard.

However don't think just because your goals relate to the high stakes and its corresponding leaderboard that others follow suit, don't think because your goal is to win at high stakes then obviously this is everyone else's goal - because it isn't.

Some of us are quite happy spending/investing in the range that we do, we have enough of life's issues thrown at us on a daily basis that we don't want to splurge $1000 on the big tuesday on stars just to see some russian crack our kings with 37o. We are happy throwing $3 bucks at a tourney to win $500, this is our comfort zone and we will more than likely stay here.

And as we make up over 90% of the tourney players we should have our own leaderboard, and the players in this thread who don't like it (who all seem to be ranked already) shouldn't care one iota as it has no impact on them whatsoever.

So Dan, Adam, Wacky et al - get onto it please - as it might motivate me a wee bit, which always helps - as numerous posts from the main leaderboard players prove.

i was just putting my own thoughts on the subject it was in no reflection to how others should feel

when i was playing $3 mtts (which i still play fyi) i didn't think man i wish i could see how good am i related to these other players, i thought if i win this mtt i can move up to $20 mtts an maybe in a year or two i can be playing with the best

    maybe we have different goals

  8. This post makes a lot of sense if you are a professional player looking to make life changing money. I'm sure there are not many pros looking to be the best micro player out there. But there are a lof of people who have full time jobs and dont have all day to grind. I think a low/midstakes leaderboard would be attractive these kinds of players.

edit: It's not that you have different goals, I'm sure everyone wants to be the best. But with a full time job/wife/kids etc, some people just can't put 100% of their effort into it. Poker just doesn't top the list of priorities for most people. So the low/mid leaderboard would just give these people a way to stay competitive.

  9. i see both sides but a micro grinder with goals to move up to mid then to high . i mean it takes effort and work in both to do it. i think its a good ideal i see no harm in it. i dont understand the micro hate unless you was touched by a micro as a kid. that moneymaker won a sat to wsop and the rest is history.

  10. im not against the idea or for it, just stating my thoughts

  11. Doubt anyone who isn't ranked already, or who doesn't play high stakes, would be against this idea... I don't see a reason to be against it. If you don't like it, don't pay attention to it and it won't affect you. Low stakes players make up SOOO much of this website it would be great to have something to let us get a little credit. Don't worry, it won't take anything away from you and your rank.
  12. why don't we just give everyone who registers an MTT a participation ribbon to make them feel special

i dont think anyone is against it , some people just dont care about having a bunch of sub category rankings, top 1000 is already a stretch and i think is enough of a change for the low midstakes players to get a badge, i mean top 100 is when u are really accomplishing something anyway, but hey if it helps people to have rankings for every stake then have at it, i think the people that dont care have bigger goals in mind , dont think anyone is trying to knock micro grinders

  15. Would it ever be possible to have a SNG leaderboard, or am I being ridiculous?
  16. It might discourage people moving up in stakes but other than that I can't see anything wrong with it. I guess it might be much needed bankroll management help for some people as well haha.

  19. yea why not? the leaderboards are just for entertainment value anyways, so lets add some more!

  20. i think its a good idea... and I thikn you should EXCLUDE those that play a high average buyin so its really a leaderboard of people who only play low stakes, or mid stakes.

If I had to chose the buyin ranges... they would be:

    micro: 10$ fo , 3R and lower

mid : 55$fo and under, 20R and under.
  21. can we get micro badges with unicorns, lollipops, and jigglypuffs on em?
