this is probably the most ridiculous thing and most disrespectful ive ever seen regarding poker sites.... so bad... they do what they want and fk the players. and what is even worse, is that they wont change, players will still be playing there and thats that
isnt there any regulamentory body (i dont know if this word is right in english sorry) that can apply some kind of penalty like shutting it down for a day? i know its not the case but i mean, can the poker softwares do whatever they want to and players dont have a place to complain???? -
? can u elaborate pls? i might sound dump but thought that as well tbh

Chip-chop favors big stacks because of the way it is calculated. You add up the remaining prize pool and divide it according to each player's percentage of chips. This methods assumes that all the money goes to first, and that each player's chance of finishing first is equal to the percentage of chips they have. It hurts short stacks because it doesn't count the possibility of making money by folding and moving up places, which is one advantage a short stack generally has.

prolly on the toilet wall........"fkuc ftp....why did i ever come to work here" guy gets slated for everything, what a downer of a job, that said i would have thought it would be easy to do something about it - don't play there till they start getting things right again - send them an email asking if they have? and if they haven't then apologise for not being able to play there.....do this every single day..........overload their email system, if they get hundreds/thousands of emails daily then they might just start to listen????
-
Didn't quite follow what you said there, but overloading FTP's e-mail system probably isn't that great of an idea, DUCY?

Here's what I posted about the situation yesterday for those asking:
You can direct all anger at me. I made the decision to not make it a turbo last night after we knew there was going to be maintenance this morning. I based that decision on a couple of factors. First, there were a lot of complaints last week when the $1K Monday was made turbo on turbo night. Second, the previous $1K Monday Million (with more players than last night's run) ended just after 5:30 AM ET, giving a somewhat decent buffer before maintenance was scheduled to begin.
Turns out the tournament lasted much longer than the previous version, which put us in the situation you just saw.
A tournament still running here and there when maintenance hits happens pretty regularly, the only thing unique about this situation is the size of the tournament. "Standard" has always been to cancel the tournament and pay out according to chip ratio. So when I verified that it was possible to just pause the tournament and then play it out after we came back up, that was the "non-standard" alternative. For that, I needed to get agreement from all 3 players. Reasonable people can disagree with that decision, of course, but it was honestly the best I could do under the circumstances. How is a 50 minute break not the standard in this situation?
Anyway, I'm happy to work with all three players to see if there's anything I can do to make it up to them, and you can be sure that any scheduled maintenance on a Tuesday morning will result in a turbo version of the $1K Monday from now on. -
Thanks for the reply Doug,
I have 2 questions in mind :
- Why doing the maintenance on Tuesday morning ?? why not another day ?
- How is the feedback from the regs about the Turbo 1K ?? Is this tourney not supposed to be a deepstack tourney ? -
I'm working on getting maintenance day moved to Wednesday to avoid the problem. It's not entirely my decision and there are other factors involved, but I think it will be possible. I agree turning the $1K Monday into a turbo is not desirable.

I don't play on FTP so don't really care but it amuses me that an organisation that makes so much money by being online still has a maintenance period where their service is unavailable. It shows just how archaic (in IT terms) their technology must be and incompetent their system architects are. Makes me reminisce of the early 1980's when banks were moving towards 7/24 uptime. There is absolutely no excuse for an online company to have scheduled downtime in this era.

Much respect Doug...

divide all the rake generated from that trny between those 3 players imo
thats horrible -
If the players complained about it being a turbo, doesn't the best situation seem to be to just make it a non MET on server reset nights or am I missing something?
-
Doug, do you have a specific e-mail I should send to ? I'm really not trying to send to support as it'll take days before they even open it.
1000th post hooray ! -

Also, for those of you thanking FTPDoug for responding....Really?
So we should kiss his ass for coming to our forum and attempting to not make himself look as bad as we all thought he did Tues morning? Seems backwards to me. -
This is obviously a frustrating scenario, but honestly some of the shit some of you guys post on these forums is ridiculous.
FTP made a risky decision based on the information available to them. In part, it was a good faith effort to keep people happy and avoid all the bitching about a 1k MET turbo. It was the wrong decision, further compounded by the late notice to players.
Their rule 31 is a rule already in place to address this and similar situations. Is it a shitty rule? That's debatable, and I can certainly understand reasonable, intelligent people arguing either way.
BUT, to come on a forum and claim that FTP stole from anyone, owes anyone money for this, that FTP reps should be kissing asses (which you could argue Doug has already done in his apology, promise to try to make it right by those involved, and attempt to find a better long-term solution), and that they don't give the slightest shit about their players is ludicrous.
Guess what. Every for-profit company is in business to make money, and most successful businesses understand that to do that they have to keep their customers at least minimally satisfied to retain repeat business. Any decision made that they KNOW is going to piss off players is made with the understanding that the long-term negative effects are likely to be less than any alternative decision; i.e., only pissed of a few players instead of a much higher number, or necessarily had to piss off players in order to advance profitable business objectives.
If any of you really think FTP is as horrible as you claim to think, fucking stop playing there. Spewing hyperbolic nonsense on forums because you're pissed off can only be so effective if you don't even support your own argument strongly enough to stop playing. Maybe anti-(any site) threads would be more effective if they were more sustained, had higher visibility, and did not have any responses from site representatives who appear to be trying to help, but as long as that isn't the case, maybe a different approach is needed.
On another note, thank you to those ITT who have presented reasonable (even if angry) arguments against the decisions, direction of the company, and/or policies involved. Your posts give other players (and by extension, FTP) something to think about when deciding whether to wager money on the site.
cliffs: quit bitching unless you have something useful to say, and don't pay someone to beat you (unless you're into that kind of thing I guess). -
Congrats on the 1000th post! In my opinion, since the other 2 were ready to accept a deal with on guy insisting on not playing the next day, you should be the only one entitled to additional compensation. GL it happening before post 2000 :)

good response doug, but why not just flip flop the rule to "complete after maintenance" instead of "cancel tournament" (unless they all agree)
Edited By: msc Apr 13th, 2011 at 09:57 PM
that or different day, etc. maybe even have a little announcement in the tournament page before it starts that it's possible the tournament could be extended an hour or so (so they should be ready for it) if it does interfere with maintenance
edit:That information about the turbo tournament was just made available to usThis is obviously a frustrating scenario, but honestly some of the shit some of you guys post on these forums is ridiculous.
