  1. Yet nothing has changed. Are they going to be able to dodge the DOJ?

  2. That's like trying to dodge a charging rhino. Rhinos are practically blind tho and so is the DOJ so maybe they have a chance.
  3. Or are they positioning themselves to pull out of the US market?

Too bad, because (1) field sizes are increasing and (2) I won my first $10k gtd tourney on Sunday and now that I have a decent bankroll, it increases the likelihood that it will shut down.

  4. if anyone can dodge the DoJ it's Calvin Ayre.

  8. Could using eu possibly prevent the idiotic USDOJ from seizing the domain name?

If so, I hope Cake and all the Merge sites do the same.
  9. just came here to say that i w/d 4 digits from the dog via money transfer this afternoon...and i already got the email saying i can pick up my monies at any western union....A plus service
  10. Pretty sick, I've been reading and apparently by changing to a .eu site the US government will have a much harder time seizing the domain names. BookMaker was seized yesterday and today they already have a .eu website up and running. The new site is still allowing US players and according to the reps cashouts will not be delayed (we know how that goes though).

  11. As of today, Tuesday, May 24th, you will find Bodog at its new home: www.bodog.eu.
You will find that all of your account information and any funds have automatically been transferred, and your account number (####) remains the same. The website as well as all of our services remain the same too.
Why the move? The www.bodog.eu address gives our brand a more permanent home as we continue to expand into new markets. We also anticipate the industry will be subject to ongoing fluctuating market conditions and we want to ensure we are prepared to manage them without any interruption to your play.
If you have any questions about the new address, please feel free to contact our 24/7 customer service team at 1-888-263-0000 or service@bodog.eu.

  13. They're just covering their butts in the event the DOJ moves in. This way it will be easier for them to continue on in the rest of the world if the DOJ cracks down on their US operations. A lesson they no doubt learned from watching the post-April 15th fallout (the UB fiasco especially).

They must feel like there is reasonable enough concern to make this move. I was just starting to feel comfortable enough to strongly consider depositing on Merge after not having played since April 15th. Obv I'm just gonna keep playing the wait'n'see game for now.

i can dig that. but from what rizen n david from Lock/Hero have told me, they're processing payments using checks, which from what they've stated, is operating within the UIGEA rules or w/e. It's company's like PS/FTP that were processing directly with wires/transfers through banks that were committing fraud.

Not saying yeah go dep on Merge n everything is gonna be "A-Ok", but, I'd feel better if the pkr room manager of the site is giving me their personal assurance that I'd be paid if I had money on the site.
  15. "from what rizen n david from Lock/Hero have told me, they're processing payments using checks, which from what they've stated, is operating within the UIGEA"

The use of "checks" poker/gaming payouts aren't covered under the UIGEA?

I hope that's correct, but have my doubts.

    Anyone know?

"It's tough for me to pretend to know what the government will do now or in the future. So if you're looking for me to give a 100% definitive statement like we won't be 'shut down' in the future, I can't. What I can say is that a big part of what got the other sites in trouble was the way they processed eChecks. We have never offered eChecks or any sort of direct bank transfers. If i truly felt there was a high likelihood of things being shut down I wouldn't be working with Lock, but I can't make any truly definitive statements as I think something we've all learned over the last few years is there is no predicting what might happen.

    -Rizen"

    from another thread
  17. ^^ Ya but what's the difference between a paper check and an eCheck from the bank's POV? It doesn't matter if it's electronic or paper they're still processing a payment between a gaming site and a US citizen. As far as I know the only difference is that an eCheck is instant and a paper check takes a couple days to clear. But the accounts on the site's end and the player's end are the same.

I'm just not buying this argument about the eCheck thing, even if Rizen is saying it. I like the guy a lot but at the end of the day his job is working for Lock poker and his paycheck depends on players being able to deposit and the site remaining profitable.

The only thing I think about paper checks is just that they're harder for an investigative body (like the DOJ) to track. A flood of eChecks would show up on the radar a lot faster than a flood of paper checks.

  18. Man if they are doing this move, why would usa players still play on there when BODOG is expecting it to happen to them to?

They would be dumb to not expect the DoJ to be attempting to shut them down, therefore, they move their .com to .eu in an effort to prevent an interruption in their service if their .com domain were to be seized.
  20. Nothing to see here. And your funds are definitely safe on all sites that served us players or have sports books. Deposit away.

  22. Lock Poker also moved to a dot-eu site in recent days.
