Anyone's point of view is sheer speculation. At least the topic has changed from "Are we ever going to see our money" to "when are we going to see our money"
Tapie said they hope to finalize the deal by the end of this month. DOJ/GBT's process in returning funds is however, another animal. -

Difference of opinions on whats blocking/delaying FTP deal:
Cliffs:
High profile players including Barry Greenstein owe money to FTP in the Amount of 16.5m
B.G says he wants to wait to make sure that the money goes to U.S players and not to GBT pockets but has no problem paying money bac. (Wating on DOJ to start some sort of repayment pool)
B.G. also says that this is not what is holding up the deal as GBT states
GBT says this indeed what is holding up the deal as they dont want to take on the extra 16.5m (which they would obv make back very very quickly)

Kind of hope you mean that sarcastically, because that is EXACTLY what should be done with this guy.

WTF?
Guess Golden toilet seats for his mansions dont suffice, he NEEDS the Platinum ones.... -
Is the poker community becoming numb to the insanity that has occurred at Full Tilt Poker? As reported by Card Player, how does a company get on the hook for $2 million in loans to a guy like Layne Flack, who wasn't even a main representative of the site?
And even a stand-up guy like Barry Greenstein admits to borrowing $400k a 'few years' ago to play at Full Tilt. Why the hell didn't he just pay it back, we know he can afford it!
I guess we all just sit here in a catatonic state hoping that Tapie and the DOJ will return our f-ing money someday! -
I hate the way Barry G keeps banging on about paying back the US players. You owe FTP money, who owe American AND ROW players money, so pay it back you rich fuck. At least he has said something to the community but I just don't like what he said or how he said it.

Let's start with the $400,000 that you said you borrowed from Full Tilt Poker. Did you borrow the money from Full Tilt or from one of the board members directly?
I just made a call. I don't think it's right to say to who

It is not only right but it's imperative that we find out who this person was. There was someone in particular giving authorization for these huge "loans" that seemed to be treated more like freerolls, and we need to know who it was. This person is directly responsible for the money owed to us, the payers, and the turmoil that has come with it.

I'm shocked Greenstein hasn't been released from his pokerstars contract and I urge Pokerstars to release him from it ASAP.

This is the problem with having a poker site being run by poker players, tbh. Obviously that's not 100% going to happen any time this is the case, but the poker playing reality is very different from the real world. In the poker world people lend and borrow huge sums of money for all kinds of weird reasons that don't necessarily have the same types of terms that normal loans have. I'd bet they lent money to people like Layne just because he was their friend. If people don't have the ability to see their business in a different light than their (very) unorthodox lifestyle, they're going to be in problems, especially when their business gets big.
I disagree with whoever said the new FTP will quickly make back $16.5M. I think a LOT remains to be seen about how viable that business will be. That have a lot of pros (great software, rush poker, gigantic userbase) but also some pretty huge cons, particularly that they've been offline now for more than 6 months and have a pretty terrible reputation right now. Even random people in my family ask me what the hell happened there. So it'll be a challenge to build them back up -
If we're depending on degen gamblers to pay back FTP as a condition to get FTP up and running, and for players to get paid back, then we're all screwed. These guys are degens, that money is long gone.

yes, tbh this is what i was thinking. if this deal with Tapie really hinges on these guys paying back were in pretty big trouble.
