The medals don't take away in themselves - you can use them for tournament tokens or gear with no rakeback deduction. However, if you purchase a bonus, that bonus will be deducted as you clear it, same as a normal bonus.
I believe the freerolls are deducted in the same way as a normal freeroll--total prizepool is divided by number of players, and that amount is deducted from your MGR. So you basically get a 73% discount on the value of the tournament, since only 27% comes out of your rakeback. -
