I've heard/seen a number of complaints about the Merge 2nd chance being converted to a 100c. What are people's opinion on what this tournament should be?

- 100 1rebuy/1addon
- 100 1rebuy (old "second chance")
- 100 "true" 2nd chance (can only rebuy if you bust)
- 50 1rebuy/1addon
- 100 freezeout
My vote is remove the 100c and replace with a 100 FO (#5) and 50c (#4). -
ya that is kinda dumb but i guess we just keep grinding

From a personally selfish level and not wanting to play a $300 tourney vs. mostly regs I'd much prefer it to actually become option 3 where you have to actually bust your stack to rebuy and can only do it once. I also think that will be more appealing to fish since they will see it as starting on a level playing field and not 1 barreling for 1/3rd the chips all the regs have.
I definately also think a 50c could do fine in there somewhere too, at least I hope it could.
And not to hijack but i REALLLY think a midweek major type tourney would do great and give fish and grinders alike somethign to look forward to other than the weekend. -
imo, this format will become even more of a reg fest than it is already- Merge raised the gaurantee 500$ while allowing another 100$ add on.
Tonights numbers were 35 entries 16 rebuys and 24 addons to meet the gaurantee plus $500. First place was $2550 or 8.5 B.I.s- certainly seems high variance to have to ship the tourney 1-9 times to break even.
My vote goes for 3 or 5. -
nit-picking a bit here but since first place is a function of buy-ins, it's not accurate to say first place is 8.5 "full" buy-ins like you are suggesting. using your numbers, avg buyin was $223, so ~11.5 buyins for first.

You're both right. It's actually 11.5x but for a reg who's almost always 3x'ing, it's effectively 8.5x.

If they upped the guarantee a decent amount, I'd agree with phatcat that it would draw in fish. But when the guarantee only goes up 500 or 1000, I just don't think it's going to have much pull. -
Edited By: phatcat Oct 11th, 2011 at 02:12 AMstill disagree. while obviously a full buy-in reg will only win 8.5x THIS tourney it's effectively 11.5x because that takes into account the greater chances of winning a tourney (vs. a normal tournament with equal chips/buyins) where you have players playing with less chips.Originally Posted by tyson219

I prefer the old second chance but I'll probably still end up playing it.
No. -
I only played it twice since they changed this yet, but definitely think not as many people are gonna play it
-
I hate the change and won't be playing in this tourney any time soon. I miss the 2nd chance, wish the would of left it the way it was.
