stars won't be as great as people think once they get some competition when online poker gets regulated in the United States.
-
Hopefully that is the case, in the meantime they are way ahead of the competition in almost every regard. It would be nice to have some other sites pushing the bar like Pokerstars as competition on a high level will lead for the sites not to get lazy and for further improvements and rewards to happen.

how does this even make sense? how does a EURO player see the 'intra-state' casinos we most likely will have, with 5K players at peak moments and think 'DAMN! I NEED TO MOVE TO USA, FK THIS POKERSTARS SITE'
absurd thought process -
one can hope, but uhhh, Stars is pretty much the best poker site that has ever come around, with not just their actual games (the sngs, mtts, etc they've added to the schedule) but their customer service.

and unsure how you can even say that stars isn't as great as people think....when they used to be the shit, even when they had competition? Stars > FTP n this is comin from a guy who put most of his volume in his career on FTP. -
I for one don't think that regulation in the US will have any impact on what the greatest online poker site in the world will be. Stars dominates in terms of what they offer, and it would take years on end for any new site to build a client base and have a schedule near as good as stars. pokerstars rocks!! Just a damn shame US players are shut out. SAD SAD SAD : (((
They clearly operate a legitimate business, and anyone who has money on there can rest assured that the funds are in good hands. I miss that site damn it!!! -

Stars is head and shoulders above everyone else now, and even when US regulation happens, none of the new sites will be as good as them for a long while. -
+1. It would be great for us players if we had more sites of the quality of pokerstars.

As hard as it is to get to the top, it's often even harder to stay there. I think Pokerstars will continue to put in the hard work and you'll see them remain as one of the best, if not the best and most well respected brands in poker, even after poker is regulated in the states. -
Kevmode are you for real?
stars peaked at over 400.000 players online last night.
Without American players. -
Im living in the states now and I constantly get message from my friends back in the UK taunting me that they are grinding stars. Damn i miss it!!

I seriously hope that if/when US regulation occurs, that there are sites out there on the level of Stars. As of right now, there are no serious competitors are helping driving the market force on bringing rake down, especially in light of a huge decrease in marketing costs by pokerstars. I do think Pokerstars is by far #1 in almost every regard. But if we had a #2 & #3 taking marketshare away from #1, it could only help the poker community in general. I am not accusing of Pokerstars getting lazy with innovations and promotions, but a market is always better served in my opinion where there are a few companies on almost equal levels pushing each other to out do each other. When a company is so far ahead like Stars, they are controlling the market, and market forces don't have a huge influence. I am hopeful that if/when the US opens to regulations, they accept customers from around the world, and that the competition amongst the sites for market share will help drive down the costs to consumers.
