  1. Not sure if anyone saw this or not, but I just sent a message Senator Kyl's site to help get some momentum going. It certainly can't hurt to send him a positive message of pushing thing through.

    Consideration is Better than Nothing
Could we be seeing a change of heart from a long-time opponent of Internet gambling and online poker? According to the website of Arizona Senator Jon Kyl, he might be up to considering Internet gambling and online poker in the future.

"Efforts to carve out an exception for games like poker, which many believe is a game of skill, may be considered later this year. Until I have the chance to review them, I cannot make a judgment about their merits; but I will consider them carefully as long as they leave in place the broader proscriptions against online betting."

See it for yourself at Kyl.Senate.gov.
  2. Holy shit this is big news actually. From what I understand about the Reid Bill that almost went through in December it was Sen. Kyl who was able to keep it down. And let's not forget Kyl was the coauthor of the UIGEA back in 2006 and half the reason we are in this mess today. For him to say what he's now saying about poker is pretty fucking huge imo.

Seems like all the right forces might align soon to have pro-poker legislation passed. One time?

  3. he is still an ass, he coulda avioded all of this BS if in 2006 he didnt write the UIGEA... lets see what comes from this...

    **fingers crossed**
  4. isn't he in his last term? alot easier to change your mind if you arent running for re-election. (Someone correc tme if i am wrong about him not runnning but retiring at term end

  5. "may be considered later this year"

not only will it "may be considered" but also later this year too. Its promising sure but yeah this will take a long time

You're right he is retiring and will be gone by the end of 2012 but he always seemed like the kind of guy to go out guns-blazing right 'til the very end.

For him to even make mention of possibly "carving out an exception for poker" is HUGE and indicates to me there is possibly some kind of backroom deal already in the works amongst the top lawmakers for later on this year. I might be jumping the gun on this thought but I seem to recall Kyl using terms like "never" or "zero chance" when describing the Reid pro-poker Bill just four months ago during the lame-duck.

  7. He is retiring at the end of his current term.

I am shocked, and very happy to read he may be in favor of online poker.

Maybe his nest egg has been featherd by the right people (those who want online poker regulated).

Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness, but no online poker.
