question about rakeback

    I just checked my rakeback homepage and it shows that the amount of rake I paid is in the negative, how can this be? my acct is on fulltilt fwiw and I only use my fpps for tourneys and sattys never buy stuff in the store.

    Using the points for sattys and tourneys takes from your rakeback as well I'm pretty sure...

    why would the site give you these points in the first place if they are going to screw you out of your money? or am I seeing this wrong? also is there a way to figure out what is more valuable the money or the points?

    The reason is that when you get rakeback, it's not really the poker site paying you money; it's an affiliate paying you part of their commission. When Full Tilt pays commission to affiliates, they deduct a number of expenses and pay affiliates based on "net revenue." If you're getting rakeback, you're getting a percentage of that net revenue, which is why those expenses affect your rakeback. They're not really charging the player, but if you get a portion of your affiliate's commission via rakeback, these deductions affect you.

    FYI, deductions can include but are not limited to the following:

    Points spent ($5 per 1,000 points spent deducted from MGR, and thereby $1.35 from your rakeback)

    Deposit/Withdrawal fees

    Overlays/Freerolls - for instance, if you're in a tournament with 100 players that has a $1,000 overlay to the prizepool, each player's MGR is deducted by $10 and thereby $2.70 from your rakeback.

    Bonuses Cleared - All deducted from MGR, so 27% from your rakeback
