I am planning on moving to canada from US to play on pokerstars in next 6-12 months. I will be getting a place for about 3 months, paying all necessary bills, expenses etc. for a full 3 months and seeing how it goes. Questions are
Is there a way to touch base with Pokerstars about my intentions so I don't waste any time getting into the grind??
Say I make, for example, $100 in that 3 months. Do I report it for tax purposes to Canada?
If it goes real well & I want to stay what steps do I take?
What do you have to do to become a canadian citizen if you are there visiting long term & want to stay?
Any other info related to this scenario/process would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! -
Email security@pokerstars.com. They won't start the account re-activation process until you relocate and provide them with the documents they need, but at least you can see what they currently require.
Also, are you moving to Canada for a job, or just to play poker. From what I understand is if Poker isn't your primary income, you are not required to pay taxes. This may only apply to Canadian citizens as I am not well versed in Canadian Tax law. Hopefully someone that went through a similar experience to what you are doing will reply in this thread.
