I've never had an account on any Cake Network skin. I'm trying to decide which skin to sign up for and where to sign up for RB. I have my FT RB with another affiliate (don't worry I won't mention their name - hopefully I won't get banned just for mentioning that another affiliate exists lol) so there's some convenience factor in just signing with them.
Tell me why I should sign up with p5s instead. And tell me whether there's benefit in signing up with one of the skins or with Cake itself ... for USA players p5s does Cake, Doyles and Players Only, right?
How much MGR will I typically have to generate to get a piece of the rake race money? Will I always know where I stand on the rake race leaderboards? Can I see current or past race standings somewhere on the site?
I see that there's a special 30k race on Doyle's in December, but the site says that promo is "<span>in conjunction with select other affiliates<span>" ... am I wrong to wonder whether that means that the 30k is spread between more players and thus harder to get a piece of?</span></span>
In general can you advise about what will be the best skin in the future to get a small piece of the rake race money? I'm mostly a tournament player and won't be playing super-high-volume, so I will generally only have a shot at the bottom rungs of the rake race ladder.
(If there's some non-RB-related reason to choose one skin over another, let me know that too)
thanks

Hi Huge,
The Cake skins we offer are the three you mentioned but also power poker. We think all the offers are good, but the one thing to keep in mind is that simply because one has an easier promotion right now than others, that doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be that easy or in the same format in the long term. Market forces eventually make most of that stuff equal out, as all of these promotions cost both us and the poker rooms a substantial amount of money, and eventually everyone needs to see some return.
You're right about the Doyles Room race being between a number of affiliates, though I think you also may be overthinking it a little. Not all affiliates have the same number of players signed up or the same size database. P5s only has 20 or 30 active players on Doyles Room right now, so a $30k race that pays 200 spots wouldn't make sense by itself for us. By combining with other affiliates, our players are getting more value, as they have access to higher top prizes if they end up being a top raker and can still get the same prizes they'd likely get otherwise if they're a small-to-medium raker. It looks like the bottom prize-winners this month are going to have raked about $200 for the month and get a $50 prize--that's an extra 25% effective cash back! Next month we'll pay even more money to even more people....no matter how it's phrased in terms of who's involved, this is a great value to everyone participating. I also am pretty sure that any affiliate offering this race is offering something substantially better than what all other affiliates are currently offering on Doyles Room...
The skin that's going to be the most "sure thing" for always being around on the network and offering great value is Cake itself. I don't think the others are huge risks, but our Cake player base is just so much bigger than the rest that the promotions there are the most likely to either grow or stay the same in the future. We've offer $25k per month in extras there for the last year--more than any other affiliate that we know of offers consistently on Cake Poker. You typically have to rake about $600 to get a prize in the monthly race on Cake, which is a bit tougher than the races on Doyles right now, although like I said before, that is all likely to even out at least somewhat over time.
As far as selling you on why we're better than other providers, first off, we offer tremendous value to our players through the monthly extras, and we're always looking at ways to add more. We're public figures in the industry--much more so than almost any other rakeback provider that also offers as much as we're offering. We've always been very open about who we are, where we're based, etc. Can you say the same thing about most other rakeback providers? We've been known for years for being trustworthy and putting our members' interests first. We always go to bat for our rakeback players whenever an issue comes up with a poker site that we have any way of helping with. We have 24/7 live support and also a separate advanced support department to handle more complicated issues via email. We go way out of our way to make sure that any customer who contacts us about an issue ends up happy about how things are handled.
Lastly, while this may not be a direct reason to sign up with our rakeback program, we believe it's a consideration. P5s does more for the poker community than an affiliate who simply pays rakeback to players. We've provided a home for online tournament players for years---a ranking system, a social community, tournament coverage, and a positive atmosphere to promote the game. It's an easy argument that we've done a lot more for the average poker player than just about anyone else out there offering rakeback. We've never asked much/anything of our members in exchange for what we've put together here. But a lot of people have chosen our rakeback over other similar offers simply because they want to support the site. It would be a hard sell for us if we were offering an inferior product, but because our product is in line with or superior to other top providers in the industry, we feel it's a reasonable consideration. Of course you will get all of the benefits of the P5s community regardless of whether or not you choose us as your rakeback provider. We do depend on the support of our members in the end, though, so it's important on our part that we let you know how you can help support our site.
So to recap:
1) Our offers are as good or better than the other ones out there (Cake better than all others, Doyles just as good or better, etc.)
2) Our support is top notch, as is the "reliability factor." We are extremely easy to reach, as can be verified by the fact that an owner of the company is responding to your post here...
3) We give you something in return beyond rakeback. How many other providers are doing anything with the money they bring in besides padding their own pockets? P5s gives back to you through both the money you earn in rakeback and promotions and also through the other benefits our website provides to the poker community. If you'd like to help support P5s at no personal cost (and actually a solid amount of gain), this is the absolute best way to do it.
Please let me know if I can ever answer anything further for you. I'm always in this forum at least a couple times a day. Even on Thanksgiving.

Adam - thanks for the thoughtful and forthright reply. Still mulling it over, but I really appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions.
