  1. Sorry if this is a rant, but I'm pretty pissed off at stars.

Since the morning of Apr 15th when this went down I have been viewing forums and searching for information pretty much non stop.

There is not ONE report of a single US player getting a withdrawal passed processing and NOT ONE reply to an email listed that I have found on any forum.

I'm sorry, but this is just absurd. If this was any other site we would be crying foul to the high heavens.

A site doesn't go from having an average response time of 10 minutes to emails and then to 72+++ hours unless they are simply being told not to respond. If it was a backlog, someone, somewhere would have posted a response they received. But I haven't found one from a US player anywhere.

Stars, you've had enough time to see what you're up against. Stop ignoring the people who are affected the most by this and make a statement already.

  2. FWIW, got a response from stars in 15 minutes earlier today on a non-cashout related matter.

That news actually makes this even worse. Meaning it becomes obvious they've been told not to address any US players as far as cashouts are concerned.

So you want them to go on-the-record with prosecution pending?

That would be suicidal on their part.
  5. Yeah they've answered me quickly twice, but I wasn't asking about cashing out.

I'd just like for them to say SOMETHING.

So many players lost their jobs, their main source of income, have a large amount of their net worth in limbo right now and they cant even be bother to say 'We understand players concerns right now and we are going over the situation, we will let you know something as soon as the information is available'.

You guys seem to forget that the poker players aren't the ones who did ANYTHING wrong in this situation yet we are the ones taking the brunt of what is happening here.

And I seriously hope stars/ftp/etc isnt silly enough to think that they can handle the situation with US players any way they wish and it wont affect their overseas business.

Players knew there was a law in place which made it illegal for banking institutions to fund or receive funds from poker sites. Yet, when the sites came up with a new way for the accounts to be funded, players went along with it. Furthermore when checks were being cracked down on, and banks were trying to abide by the regulations by asking "where is this check from?" Players took it upon themselves to lie, and tell others to lie, so that an illegal transaction could take place. Players have no plausible deniability, we are lucky that as of yet the government didn't want to make examples out of a select few of players. (They'd never be convicted but their lives would be hell for awhile, even more-so then now)
  8. This is a email i got from them. I asked them about our funds on the site.

    A canned, meaningless response apparently

Sorry, but BS. stars knows what they are up against. Any person with an internet connection can see exactly which accounts were seized and what specific people are being charged with. Add 48+ hours to the mix and this is plenty for stars to issue some kind of statement to the US players.

Mind you it only took them 3-5 hours tops (from the start of this) to issue a national statement for ALL players overseas about their funds, transactions, playability and deposits/withdrawals.

While US players haven't been told shit.

  13. You have to relax. stars and, more importantly, the banks with whom they work operate businesses. Those businesses typically operate Monday - Friday. Everything went down Friday night/afternoon depending on time zone. There is probably a minimal amount Stars could do over the weekend in terms of reaching out to its processors and figure out what's going. I'm not surprised at all it's taking them a couple days to even figure out where they stand.

Add to that they are facing criminal charges and need to carefully craft any responses and/or policies, I wouldn't be surprised if it's the end of this week or early next week before any new information is released.

All US Players have violated the UGIEA in one way or another....the gravy train is over for many of us...ignorance of the law is not a defense in a criminal court case....the only legal way of playing online: since 2006...was to play in a live casino....as much as it sucks...it's the truth....believe me....it hurts me too but I am not naive to the facts of this issue at hand...many in the online community are letting their emotions get in the way of logic...

All US banks have been mandated for some time now to abide by the UGIEA as it's bylaws....skirting around the law by deceipt (like thos bullshit charges to your checking account for costume jewelry or magazines or whatever the heck was charged, was pure and simply ILLEGAL).

The problem is; money corrupts, and often corrupts ones mind....now I am not preaching about the evils of online poker...heck I love to play online....I banned myself from Full Tilt as a matter of fact because it was starting to consume me and I knew it wasn't healthy to be in that situation....but if you want to play.....go for it I say....

I for one am happy this came about...the large online companies have let greed take hold and lord knows how many peoples lives have been destroyed losing their life savings playing online...families destroyed: I know of one person at work who has a husband that sits at home all day playing online, with a wife and child....bringing his family to financial ruin...each day promising his wife that he'll place in the top 3 in a sunday major and life will be good after that....dumping several hundred dollars a week, knowing dam well his results show a big negative ROI.....

Is it really worth it??? You have to look at yourself in the mirror and ask this honest question...

People will flame me on this, but that's ok...we are all entitled to our opinion...

This would be a fantastic argument if......stars didnt turn around and (within hours) issue a public statement to the entire world (barring USA) about where they stood on playability, deposits, transfers, cashouts, and future business stability.

    Try again.

Sorry, but tired of hearing rehashed crap from people who are in the exact same boat as every other US player right now......clueless.

Have you even read the UIGEA? No where does it state that it is illegal for a player to deposit or withdrawal from a gambling site of any form. But this is not the topic of the thread. So i'll leave it.

  16. Ah, squeeky wheel gets the grease.

    My response from stars:

We apologize for the delay in responding to your email.

Unfortunately we are unable to immediately process cashout requests for US
players as a result of the legal developments in the United States. We are
making it a priority to work with the relevant authorities to secure the
return of funds as soon as possible. We will promptly provide you with
additional information as soon as it becomes available.

We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your
    patience.

So, basically no cashouts for anyone any time soon. At least thats better than sitting around waiting for info. At least now we know we arent touch our funds for a long time.

  17. Captain Obvious

What did you really think they were going to tell you? Something that everyone else doesn't know already?

This is a moot point now since you have a response, but I'll respond to your post anyway.

Actually, issuing a statement about freezing play/transfers for US players while allowing ROW to continue play is a completely cohesive with taking a few days to develop a strategy.

Pretty simple really if you think about it. So let me "try again" with more detail.

Step 1: Freeze US players from playing/transacting. Issue a very broad statement on what's happening.
Step 2: Develop strategy on how to proceed and work with affiliates (and maybe AG/FBI) to see what's possible going forward.
Step 3: After said strategy developed, inform player base of new strategy.

It's actually pretty simple corporate development planning.

Edit: and yes, I'm oversimplifying. I don't like being called clueless, so figured I needed to follow up.

  19. The customer is always right/ customers come first mentality is good and all until a business is being charged with a pretty serious crime. stars is going to take their attorney's advice, which is probably STFU about the pending charges. Stars has to cover their own ass before they can take care of us. The attorneys advising them represents PS, not PS's customers. Surprised more people don't realize this. How often do you hear "I am not allowed to talk about it" when reporters ask celebs about pending charges." The same thing applies here- Stars shouldn't be rambling on about the charges other than a foggy blanket statement "We will try and protect your funds."

I guess I'm not sure what people are wanting Stars to say. They can't promise anything until they get the mess with the DOJ sorted out obviously.
