PocketFives published an article a few days ago about Zynga reportedly making a verbal offer for the Ongame Network:

Zynga is definitely a giant, but the company would be going up against the likes of Caesars, MGM, Wynn, Churchill Downs, and potentially even Facebook in the online gaming space. However, Zynga has seemed to master the social side of gaming, whereas other companies I mentioned have fallen well short. So, social gaming could set Zynga apart from the pack. -
I found it more interesting the comments about OMGPop/Draw Something. None of my friends play it anymore.
But interesting that Zynga thinks poker will be legal soon. Or will they change it up to be more like Skillbet/Duplicate Poker type of game? -
It already has been legalized in Nevada, and many parties are applying for licenses. I doubt they're headed in the skillbet/duplicate direction, I'd really expect them to stick primarily with microtransactions like they're doing at the moment (i.e. pay $1 for 1,000,000 chips) and possibly expand into some games with cash buy ins and prizes that are still primarily focused on achievement rather than financial gain. That's what they're really good at, after all

Zynga had revenues of over $300 million in Q4 2011, which means, as Adam alluded to, they're really good at making money off of their current business model. The Ongame acquisition could give them an introduction into regular real money gaming and also give them an inroad into Europe, where Ongame is focused.

I played in some of the highest staked Zynga games in the world.
All the Zynga pros will take your roll and then send you an electronic martini with your own money -
Not sure if you saw, but PokerScout started tracking play money games in recent days:

Zynga has a strangle-hold in that department, with a seven-day running average of over 120,000 players.
