I am def not defaulting aces here. I included a couple of pieces of info to just get you into my thought process. Def a stretch but I was just referring to the 25% stack 3bet from someone i think to be a good player.

My thought is I would never 3bet 25% of my stack to 4x open and flat with AK,AQ,JJ or QQ. I would either jam or fold. Anyone kind of get my line of thought. Don't have to agree with fold ...think we all concur on how atrocious it was.
Edited By: llebdet Feb 4th, 2011 at 02:29 AM
Sorry< i guess you could flat some but with two options as jam or 3bet. jam is my only one -
Sorry Dar. Not what I am saying< i know for sure you fold if i jam.

Either way- i played it like shite and deserved to get those hands shown down -
Never fold. Especially with this new MET format.
-
Don't think you can ever fold especially if it is a winning reg, they know how to play poker and you have to imagine they are better than you are and cannot compare their plays to yours. If you never 3-bet semi-bluff 25% your stack there then that is your mistake, another mistake assuming that players should play like you and shouldn't have worse than AA in this spot. You'll quickly find players dont play the way you think they should and it isn't as easy as you think putting them on hands, try putting them on hand ranges instead of hands.
-
thanks for the response.

- i did put him on a range that was completely narrowed based on stage of tourney/open and 3bet size.
- I do "semi-bluff" 3bet (semi-bluff? not sure i like its use here) but not with his stack at this stage in tourney.
- he is not a random but rather someone i know to be thinking and decent.
bottom line. not good fold as mentioned above numerous times- just wondered if anyone understood my general thought process - and if CONSIDERING folding is always bad...dont have to do it.
I am sure there are times early in mtts that people consider folding KK pf and I thought this time was not entirely unreasonable.

end thread lol -
I was gonnna said that seems like a bet that he doesn't want you to call. That early thats a pretty large bet... I would of put him on 99-qq

I am majorly have the reality check now. In the last few online attempts for a couple of weeks, I have lost all tourneys enrolled, blew the bankroll. All online. the problem I think is playing on a daily basis. I am on major downswing. I am still contemplating on the game though at Hollywood Indiana. I don't have a casino around me so it is not very often that I will get to play live poker (other than free bar events and the occasional home game with buddies).
I am going to be playing in a monthly bar tournament and lets see how I do in that one. -

What happened to your 40% ITM? I guess now you know your not really as good as you thought you were which is a good thing. If you keep losing day after day then yes playing on a daily basis could be the problem but I doubt it really is. You said you have only been playing since October. That is the problem. Yes you might have read about some of the sicko's making one deposit and turning that into a BR to play high stakes but that is rare and you must start at the bottom. BR management is key and playing in the $300 buyin event doesn't sound like decent BR management. If you can afford it and just want to play to play then go for it but if your trying to take the game serious and maybe making something from it then you need to not play that event.

That $300 will get you a good start into the online world. Put $100 on each FT & stars, buy a good poker book, and take the rest for a training site. If your dedicated and don't play outside your limits then that could be the very last time you have to deposit. Unlikely but very possible. This game isn't easy and most won't luck box their way to a million dollars so you need to work harder than the next guy to get a head. These forums have a great deal of information and a lot of great players that contribute to them. I suggest you use that to your advantage. Well's are very informative and have so much great stuff in them poker and non poker related. Strategy section down at the bottom is another good feature. Best of luck. -
there some good advice here. Def take a shot and play your game. the best way to learn is to dive in and play. Good Luck and wish you the best.

Thanks for your response. I will definately consider it. I don't want to quit this thing, I want to make it better. I am currently looking over my hand history of the events and already see my faults.
As far as my Deepstacks tourney, I still am going to play it. My personal bankroll allows for it and want to see how I do in the field. I don't get to play live very often and don't want to miss out on the chance on it. I don't live too close to a casino and I don't have a good home game to be a part of in Lexington so this is the only opportunity. I am excited about it.
I like honesty and take constructive criticism well for it makes me a better player. I realize my reality, now I am ready to hit the felt and begin winning again. I hope to continue the journey online and just be a better player and upgrade from a fish to a shark soon. Thanks.... -
