It never ceases to amaze me how many people don't see the difference between winning a race and sucking out. I was just playing heads up and had 2200 to the guys 800. He min raises and I put him all in and he calls. I have AQ and he has KJ and Im quite obviously the favorite to win but as usual he sucks out hitting the king. He has been berating me the whole time because I made a comeback earlier and got ahead of him on a good call where I had pocket 4's and he tried to bluff at the board with A 10 all the way. I tell him to stfu because plain and simple he got lucky to catch a king and that this match should be over. A few hands later we end up allin and I have 66 to his A9. My 6's hold up and he actually has the nerve to tell me stop my crying because now we are even. I try to explain to him that a 66 is actually a slight favorite over A 9 and that I won the race there and that his KJ sucking out my AQ for his tournament life was not the same situation as I was about a 2 to 1 favorite to win that hand. He sees no difference and that just amazes me. Do people playing for real money not see the difference between winning races and sucking out?
-
Why even bother trying to explain that to him?
-
I don't normally play heads up sitngos. I just cant believe people actually play for real money and dont know the difference between suckouts and races.
-
i thought the thread was gonna be about white people sucking out more than black people, and the black community getting mad about it
-
You will be surprised how little people who play for real money actually know about the game.

I don't think AQ losing to KJ is a suck out. Now AQ losing to say QJ or AJ would be a suck out.

I know I dont conisder AQ losing to KJ a suckout, maybe I should make a post abou u!

You do realize that preflop AQ is a 62% favorite to win the hand over JK which is a 37% favorite to win. I didn't say its a horrible suckout but it's definitly a suckout.

meh AQ vs KJ is more of a flip than a suckout imo

exactly, you can start calling it a suckout when its a proper 70/30 at least -
this threat is a suckout
your hand, however, was a race -
AQo vs. KJs is 58/41 (EDIT: If Unsuited you already posted the odds above.)

A9o vs. 66 is 55/45
A9s vs. 66 53/47

Here's how I see it:

Coinflip: Pair vs. two overcards
Suckout: Dominating hand losing (aka AK losing to KT) or pair losing to two unders, underpair, or one live over
Race: Two live cards against two live cards
Yeah, your AQ is ahead of his KJ. But you're not dominating him. You guys both have unpaired hands and are "racing" to see who can pair the board. That's always how I looked at it anyway. -
sick brag about winning $6 hu
