over the past three plus years i have played hundreds of tournaments and sit and gos on several sites. i have won around 6-8 mtts in total and have around maybe 20-40 final tables. but as time has passed and i have learned more about the game it seems that the more times i get my chips in with the best hand the more brutal beats i take. lately i've been temtpted to just fold pocket aces and kings because they rarely hold up in showdown situations. but i very rarely seem to come from behind in critical hands to even things out. please do not use this post to make jokes and beat your own chests but i am calling on winning tournament players to help me. when does this "variance" i always read about on here swing back to the strong hands and even things out because it is ridiculous how many times in the past 4 weeks i have had 70-30 or better hands lose in showdown situations. but i have not had a corresponding number of 30-70 hands win to validate the odds. is it because i play too tight? too agressive when i do have strong hands? or what?

You suck out less often because you get your money in good more often. Plus you probably remember the bad beats you take more than the bad beats you give. GL sir.

People are getting MUCH better at this game than 2-3years ago ask lilholdem and all them TOP NOTCH players.....they should know what I mean.....

NO IT NEVER ENDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Although it doesnt work most of the time. When I am on raging monkey tilt I always try to tell myself that the variance is what keeps the bad people playing. If it wasnt for variance in the game there wouldnt be money in these games and it wouldnt be any fun. This way there is plenty of money in the games and its fun at times :)

I actually feel the same way as you. Seemed much easier to win a multi table tourney say 2 or 3 years ago then it does now. I also feel I am a much better player then I was 2 years ago.

i know i am far better than i was three years ago but the problem is not getting outplayed. i definitely do from time to time but the problem is playing really good tournament poker and getting beat by inferior plays on a regular basis.
