Well.. here is how I lost my entire bankroll in a matter of minutes. You know about the curse of having a bad run of luck after cashing out? Well I now believe in that curse. After building a decent roll of 350$ having started with only 25$ on UB in a matter of 2 months, I decided it was time to cash some out before I pissed it all away. After cashing out 150$ I was left with 200$ and enough to play around with. A few nights ago I saw that Antonio Esfendiari had sat down at the .50/1$ table. Not wanting to pass up a chance to play against a pro, I sat down right next to him with 40$. I try to stay away from the 1$ n/l tables because the swings can be brutal for a bankroll my size. Well the following hands WERE brutal and I lost my entire bankroll in 3 CONSECUTIVE hands. Anyways, after folding most of my hands at the table I came across A
8
in late position. There were already 4 limpers (including Antonio) so I decided to raise it up to 3$ everyone calls. The flop comes A
8
7
, SCORE! I had flopped top 2 pair. I bet the pot which was around 15$, I didn't want any callers because of the flush/straight draw. Well one person calls. Next card comes J
.. I push all in and of course he calls with his A J, someone told me after that they had JJ and folded meaning he had hit his ONE outer to bust me. Only down 40$ I buy back in with 60$.. the following hand comes up. I have 5
6
in late position again. Theres only 1 limper this hand so I decide to limp myself. Three people to the flop.. Well the flop comes 5 K 5.. WOW what a lucky turn of events.. I flopped trip 5's. The first person leads out with 3$, other guy folds and I smooth call. Now the next card should be the icing on the cake.. a 6.. YES! way ahead in the hand I figure I've pretty much got this hand won. Well this time the guy checks.. I bet 5$ and he reraises me all in! Well I stop and think for a minute.. would he really just call preflop with KK? I highly doubt it and put him on AK or KQ.. well I make the correct read, he had KQ, and I call him with my 56 full house. I wait in suspense to get paid off and the river is a K.. OMG, he had caught a higher fullhouse and I had just had 2 consecutive bad/unlucky beats that cost me 100$. I had never lost this much in one sitting and was pissed as hell. Not willing to quit while I was behind I was determined to win back my $$ and get the hell out of there. Well I bought back in with my last 100$.. This is my last and final hand I will EVER play after already having 2 consecutive bad beats. Still in late position I think now there is no way I'm going to lose here, I get dealt AA!! Yes! Maybe my luck is FINALLY turning around. Nope, wrong again. Early position raises to 3$, 2 callers, I reraise to 10$, 1 caller after me. Original raiser then reraises to 25$.. YES! im gonna get my money back easy. One of the 1st callers calls again and I reraise ALL IN for my last 100$ Well.. 2 of these players had me covered by about 30$ Original raiser and caller both call. At this point theres about 320$ in the pot (The biggest pot I've ever been involved in) Well the flop comes 6 6 2.. GOLD!! Well, both the players go all in after this flop. Quickly the turn comes Q and the River comes K.. Caller shows JJ, Raiser shows KK.. OMG I just blew 200$ in 3 hands on perhaps the worst run of luck i've ever seen. I can handle losing a lot of money on a misread, but after these 3 hands im just speechless.. I quit my shortlived poker life for now, or at least until i'm 21 and can play in casinos. If anyone has had any worse luck than this PLEASE..I would love to hear it..

Nice bankroll management....

Amazing what getting on tilt can do to you.

im not much of a cash game player, but when i do play, i find the worst thing you can do, after you get bad beat, is to buy back in, and especially for more money. Its just not your table, and you will continue to get UB'd until you're bust. So go find a new table or call it a day
And also, with a bankroll of 200, you shouldnt be playing at 50/1, or if you do, i would only buy in for 25 or so, see if you can make that grow.
Consider it a lesson learned... goodluck when you turn 21. Oh and fyi, that stuff happens at a casino too ;) -
Isnt A-8 suited called "dead man's hand"? guess thats why! Also, when youre playing over your head, you shouldnt be in a pot with 5-6 suited in ANY position...IMO....but putting that aside, those were some pretty horendous beats....
-
I normally don't play 5 6 but I got a feeling that it would pay off that hand. Yeah.. some feeling. I know about bankroll management, I just plain blew it. I've been spending too much time playing poker anyways instead of studying for college. Guess it's better that I went out the way I did WHEN I did a week before finals.

Yeah, I know I shouldn't play those limits with my bankroll.. but ANTONIO.. couldn't pass it up. And yeah i'm sure those beats happen at casinos too, but whenever I play home games I NEVER come across 3 consecutive bad beats like that one.

Had a feeling about 56?? you should have felt the urge to FOLD FOLD FOLD.
-
People usually dont expect anyone to play low cards like 56suited, i feel i can play any 2 cards. I play the player not the cards. Youd be amazed how many times ive limped with "home game cards" and caught straights. Just happened to be unlucky that hand. Its not like I raised preflop with them..
-
I dont believe its an issue of playing "home game cards", its an issue of playing them over your head. If youre in a $.50/$1 table and you normally cant lose more than $30 or $40 in a night, then you are playing in limits in which your bankroll cant handle. Now, I understand the desire to play with Antonio, but knowing that you cant really "afford to lose", I wouldnt be limping around with 5-6 suited. Hopefully that explains the replys a little more...if you were playing in that game and you have $500 bankroll, that would be something else....
-
Yea no doubt, time to redeposit 50$.. sad how addicting this game is. Anyways I don't consider it lost money, just won money never won in the first place. Its a good way of dealing with beats, Ex: I just lost 150$.. so I pretend that I just bought an xbox, which I already own, so that way its like I really didn't lose anything at all. Seems retarded but it actually helps dealing with horrendous beats.

buy back in for another $200,and tell us what table youll be playing on.
-
You people shouldn't be so rude. That is def some bad luck DJ. Getting turned and rivered like that. I feel for you man! You obviously know what your doing. Stick with it! Your luck will change!
-
Like someone said, "the cards can't have feelings about you so you can't have feelings about them." At least have feelings about the players.
-
Did you actually lose any money to Antonio?
