An Interesting situation occured this sunday in the 100k euro tournament at paradise poker. Setting the scene; approx 1.6million chips in play, 9 players remain, My stack 320,000 and leading by a about 40k and only a few hands into the final table. Blinds are at 4k/8k with antes, I get dealt AA UTG and raise to 20k and get re raised to 50k by player next to me who is in 2nd place with just under 300k in chips everyone folds around to me and here I pushed all in here hoping to take down the pot uncontested but I get called by KK and get my AA cracked on river by a straight.
Anybody have any insights on this situation and how they would play it. I think the underlying question here is how much risk is worth while to gain an edge and increase your chances of actually winning the tournament. Can anyone actually seriously think of folding AA preflop in this situation? Please give me your insights...................

I don't know why you'd even contemplate folding KK preflop, let alone AA..
-
haha, nice try.
Too obv level imo. -
level????
-
I hope its a level cause he wins more money than I do online, and if this post is legit that makes me sad.
-
Not worth the risk imo. You should fold PF and wait for a better spot.
-
IMO......theres absolutely no other way to play it.....you got it in with the nuts...what else can you do.
-
Even if you flat and push the flop, he is calling you with KK, which is the only other way to play his RR.
Either way you are getting cracked there. It is just part of the game, sir, lick your wounds and move on. -
wow. just wow.

A few words come to mind reading this post, level and results oriented. Good luck and you were just unlucky.

<span>"To me it was an instant all in situation but I was laughed at saying that I played it wrong but how else I could I have played it, there is no other way in my mind, I'm just still wondering what could of and should have been"

Welcome to the boards. Not to put too fine a point on it, but, after lurking for 6 months, this is the best you could come up with for a first post?
I think it is safe to say that the majority of our members would be more than willing to bet all their chips, preflop, holding AA vs their opponents KK. -
Ask yourself this Rondor, if you somehow fold here what "better spot" are you actually looking for?
-
ICM is a factor here. Given the information that you gave, most likely you will have to win about 62.4807348965387968794265892589% of the time, in order to just break even.
AA is pretty ugly here, it's only a pair. If you have a club in your hand, you pretty much gotta reluctantly go with it, but if they are red, then toss them. Wait until you get trips preflop. -
Def folding pre here

rondor...i'll give you one serious reply even though i'm not sure it's warranted. The idea is to get HU allin with AA. Doesn't matter if it's 6 bets pf or just 3 bets, but just to get it HU. The more hands involved decrease your likelihood of winning, though you are still the favorite. Just a quick summary.
P.S. The day I let ppl at my table dictate whether i'm making good plays is the day I let a cat into the house. -
