i love the donk/float of the flop and then the snap jam because you hammered that ace
thats a classic -
I don't think variance is your enemy here.
Raise less pre
Cbet is ok
Fold to reraise given dry board . This way u won't be all in happy if ace comes on turn -
Actually I don't think that your mistake was pre flop, in a low buy-in tournament such as this there is no real risk involved, leading to bad play by most. The player made either a terrible pre flop call or a very brave one...or he based his call solely on having position on you. The continuation bet is the aggressive move to make, your position leaves you open to not having a real clue as to what your opponent has. He actually played you pretty well by simply letting you do the betting for him. My advice is to slow down a little so that you can get a read on your opponent, he clearly had one on you after you large pre-flop bet. And don't get married to any hand....when he raised you on the flop he clearly had a strong hand, dropping a big starting hand is painful, but for tournament survival it is a necessary tool in your bag. Use it. Good luck, just use this as a learning experience, it should prove a valuable one.
