Hey all - great site. First time poster here. I play at UltimateBet frequently under this name.

I played in a live charity event on Saturday. 200+ players crammed into an over-heated high school gym. As it turns out, poker players don't smell that great - it definitely made me appreciate the privacy of on-line poker that much more. I played very well early on, mostly by abusing the newbies to poker who think that Norman Chad is a genius. After about 2 hours, I was up to $30K in chips, and we started with $5K each. I was making the correct reads on the people at the table, and pushing them around when I sensed weakness. More fun than cow-tipping.

So, here comes the table consolidation, and this punk kid sits on my right. He looked to be all of about 15, but he said he was 21. He's got about $15K in chips, so obviously he had some game. In his 2nd hand at the table, he's in the SB, I'm in the BB at 200/400. The entire table folds to us, and he makes it 800. A pretty lame attempt at stealing, I decide, so I call without looking at my cards, which I make sure he notices. Flop comes 4-4-J rainbow. He bets 1,000, I decide to look at my cards, and lo and behold, I have 4-K offsuit. I raise him to 3,000, trying to get him to go away. He goes all-in almost immediately. I figured only 3 hands can beat me at this point, J-J, 4-J, or 4-A. I didn't debate for long - I called. He mutters an expletive, says, "you got me", and turns over a 5-6 offsuit. As he stood up, he extends his hand and we shake, so I didn't even see the turn. I did, however, see the river come with an 7, which matched with the turn card of an 8 gave him a runner-runner straight.

He was embarassed about it, and apologized, saying he thought I had nothing and he could steal it. Yeah, you think? Anyhow, I lost some serious mojo after that hand, lost a K-K when 2 Aces hit on the flop, and crashed out about an hour later somewhere around 50th place when my pocket 10's didn't hold up. All in all, a fun day, but highlighted by the worst bad beat of my career.
