Is it possible that some people are just plain unlucky or is this a cop out for supposedly playing bad. If you can consistently get it in good and continue to lose, is it possible you are playing bad or just running bad. Some people just tend to run like gazelles while others run like fat kids eating cake. Just wondering if it's possible to change your luck.

when do we get our FTP funds?

yes, some people are'nt just meant to have hands hold up. My advice quit before you start pulling your hair out. Its never gonna change bud... u can play and get training with the best in the world for the rest of your life... but them 2 n 3 outers/ runner runners are still gonna fuck you over.
just quit and get out while your still sane -
I'm mainly an o8 player and I used to win pretty consistently. Unfortunately things have gone way down hill the past few months, which has been the worst timing ever because I had to move and quit my job because my wife finished her PhD and got a job of her own.
I don't think I have been doing anything wrong, and my play seems to be fine, but the bad beats just will not end. I have been getting so frustrated with it that I am seriously comtemplating quitting as I have never gone through such a drastic downswing in my life and it is killing me.
I was never overly lucky when I was winning, but rather the bad beats were conistent on both ends, I would deliver some and some more would be delivered to me, but it would even out. These days it doesn't matter if I get it in way behind, or way ahead, I am getting the shit kicked out of me way more than I am giving it out. It's getting tough to see the light at the end of the tunnel, as I am not sure this downswing will ever end. -
@ Chris. DO u play on party, Im finding the same thing lately, I play Hi Lo as well 25\50c 50\$1, I seem to get alot of Ah2h Ac4s, Flop 5h Kh 3s. then seem to brick out or loose to runner runner, catch a Qh on the turn, so the money is going in, Then seems to be some 1 w QK catching a Q on the river or something stupid like that. Ive lost my way on the cash tables to lately.....Or ive doubled up a few times, Then catch some sik cooler set over set, and get busted...

Nah I just play on stars right now, and I am mainly a tourney player. Pretty sick of being pissed off after a session, so I am looking forward to getting back to being just a casual player and maybe I can run a little better then while not having the stress of feeling like I need to make $
Ah well, the dream is over I guess -
I hear ya man. Been slowly losing my whole roll even with brm. Just cannot have a hand hold up no matter how good it is. I make great calls only to lose to a turn or river or both. I hope it gets better for us both.

Where the luck may fall one way, it must balance itself out. I won close to $6000 in a week and a half at a casino near my home, and then ultimately lost it in about the same amount of time. I never changed my style of play, but just got really bad beats, and played some cards that weren't as good as the next players. My guess is that the pros or guys that do really well are just luckier than the next guy. Yes, skill does come into play at some point, but who cares about skill when one person has all the luck in the world? $480 million dollar powerball jackpot anyone? lol.

it's all luck

Hi ChrisR you mentioned above that you reviewed your play and it seemed fine...just a quick question - what methodologies do you primarily use to evaluate and analyze your play?

I play on pokerstars. I always make a deposit of 60-70 bucks. My Buddie is pretty well a pro on there{In fact, Jan 7th, he is representing Canada along with 4-5 more players}.
Ok, I make small deposits and play up to $11 tourneys and hyper sit & go's while my friend got a HUGE bank acct and plays up to 40 games at a time. He plays major games over $100.
I've play for approx 3 hrs every 3rd day while he plays all the time. The most I ever won is $280 in a tourney about 3 years ago. The most they'll LET ME WIN in any tourney is under $50. 95% of the time, I'll lose to a bad beat and 99% of the time, it's a bad beat from a player with a huge stack. I'm 100% convinced Pokerstars TAKES CARE OF THEIR PLAYERS WHO MAKE HUGE DEPOSITS WHILE THE ORDINARY JOE{like me} IS LUCKY IF HE GETS 3 DAYS OUT OF HIS $60 DEPOSIT. I dont think Pokerstars will LET me win $2-3000...I just dont deposit enough. Like someone said here, If I play a $1 game, I'll finish at a decent place but only win a small amount..Happy and a Healthy New Year to all!! -
To OP. Change your style of play. I tried for quite a while to follow all the get it all in preflop advice I came across here. And while it may work for them, my style has it's roots in cash games where you actually play the flop, turn and river, which offers other opportunities for value. So I simply stopped getting it all in preflop and 4betting just because of how many big blinds opponents had. Bottom line, when I play my style, I do much better.
