[temporary ban: Consult the PD and BB forum rules regarding what should be placed in Bad Beats.]
Edited By: dhubermex Jun 29th, 2010 at 07:33 PM
....we all know the site is horribly rigged, but i'm wondering what you guys think:
is it just a little bit rigged, with the site letting trash win a bit more often than it should?
or is it just VERY rigged, with player-specific doomswitches?
i think it's the latter.
Reason: user banned for posting in wrong forum -
how the fuck did this kid win 100K and still be this stupid.
eihter way, gives us micros guys hope. -

I will say that online casinos are rigged (they are programmed purposefully to not give true probability), but online poker, with the exception of known cheating scandals, is not rigged. The probabilities work out. -
I don't understand why it's so hard for people to believe that it could be rigged. It is a computer program and there are a lot of smart programmers in the world that could easily rig stuff up like this. To insult a guy because he has the opinion that it's rigged is just ridiculous to me. I actually side with him but I don't think it's rigged against any one person, I think it's rigged to induce more action and it is bizarre how many times hands that are dominated end up winning. Just because your opinion differs from his doesn't mean his post should be deleted or banned. It's a perfectly legitimate topic that could actually be happening whether you choose to believe it or not. This forum would be so much better if people would read these topics and actually discuss them instead of just posting hate crap all the time.

doomswitches are real. The last person that switched mine from "Ass rape" to "run average" got fired from Full Tilt. There was some big article online about it.
-
What the conspiracy theorists fail to take into account is:
1. With online poker you are going to see way more hands if you are ten tabling vs. playing live.
2. You may win your first couple of 80/20s, 70/30s, etc but what are the chances of you winning five consecutive all ins as an 80/20 favorite? I'm too lazy to do the math but I don't think its in your favor or 50% at best.
3. A mulitibillion dollar business could give two shits about some guy grinding in his mom's basement in Idaho.... jus sayin -
No, we just hear this on all sites.. When the UB scandal occurred there was a lot of proof posted, etc. Based on the coolers I just got live, should I say live poker is rigged?

Basically without any proof and just a blanket statement, this just seems like another person that doesn't understand variance.. -
Let's say for arguments sake you are right and he has no clue about variance. He is still entitled to his opinion and it should be open for discussion because there are many people who agree with his opinion. To ban his comments because you are tired of hearing stuff like that is ridiculous. It's amazing some of the stupid posts that slide through here but yet when someone wants to talk about it being rigged then he is a useless piece of crap and his opinions have no validity.

OP...there are some of us who have/do really struggle with this problem. IMO one of two things happen to them. They go on believing this conspiracy and let it ruin them as poker players, or they educate themselves as players, and on the subject. Depending on how long you want to hold onto this conspiracy will be your own sentence.

I am one of those grassy knoll kind of guys about everything in life! Sadly, I held onto the online poker rigged theory probably far longer than most. Not until I became a winning player coupled with doing my own research on the online poker rigged theory could I move away from all this stuff. There is enough info on the subject out there to keep you busy for weeks. 2+2 has a very extensive library on the subject and I suggest you head over there yourself. I did my own research on RNG's, companies that audit and certify them, companies that have had independent third party audits on their RNG's, etc... Before you make these statement publicly, just educate yourself on the topic first.
The other thing that really put the icing on the cake for me is that I found out there were much more brilliant people in our community like mathematicians and scientists that have done their own research on this too. It would be virtually impossible to pull the wool over these folks eyes and further, keep them all quiet if the fix was in.
The last thing that helped me personally is that I live in Las Vegas now so I am seeing more live cards than I ever have. I SEE THE SAME EXACT STUFF LIVE ALL THE TIME!!!! In fact, I run worse live and starting to think those automatic shufflers in the middle of the table has the fix in on me ;)
Blaming the RNG is ignorance and it will continue to hinder your progress in the poker world. I will tell you that if you continue to believe in it and "look" for it, you will continue to find it everywhere. It's just a state of mind...
I don't think it's a stupid post...there are people that really need help with this. -
I don't think the sites are rigged but I am a firm believer there is a method to eliminating small stacks in Tournys. The evidence is too accurate for it not to be. An example if you play Madden on xbox or even mario kart the same momentum feature is programmed into them. In mario kart when you get down you start recieving better items (vice versa for poker)...madden when a team does something in the game it will purposfully make it harder for the other team to score. Same situation with the online RNGs. So like i said its not really rigged but its something that could be incorperated to help explain the unbelivable math defying hands that plague people over and over and over again! :)

Full Tilt is Rigged i have lost over $600 playing poker there.
I get the same like this guys case study, it's always the pockets, river or turn even after making sure you have the highest hand from the flop.

Now what's even worse is the players who go all in, raise when they got nothing!!
it always happens to me like they know the cards.

^^
Bullshit like that happens every few hours not just daily.. that's how bad it is. -
hahaha. I am loling at how fucking sad you are... Dude, I've probably lost over 15k online in the last 3 years, and I am only 19 years old... I am chasing the dream and over the last 3 years I feel as if I am actually learning and getting better with pretty big scores live... I can't believe you would cry about 600$ when somehow a 19 year old can piss away that money and I have gone swings of 2k up or down and just laugh about. Let me know when you get stuck so much that its hard to breathe and your on the tail end of a 44 hour sesh.. :) I <3 poker and poker in the long run is all about variance. Bad beats happen. wah wah. Get on with it and move onto the next hand.

lets just say it seems rigged. lol
