I've been running really bad lately, coupled with people making some really strange calls on me. i was wonder how peope on here dealt with it
-
Lol im not busto I'm jsut disheartened, even tho I'm still up but I could just be up SOOOO much more
-
Man this site gets some dumb replies.
Im in the same boat as you at the mo, all i try to do is make the correct decisions. I have gone back to playing just 1 table to try and get the confidence back and make sure i pay attention.
If you get people to stack off lite v u but get lucky then you must be doing the right thing - keep at it and battle on. -
ehhhh i'd be very careful when taking this advice. bad streaks happen to all players, no matter what their skill level.

i've had break-even streaks of like 500 games in the 45 man turbos. i can't imagine how shitty i'd feel if i were playing those 500 games one game at a time. -
These are weak responses. I'm running like shit myself and I've been through a number of times when the cards have gone cold. Here's some things I'm doing to get through it.
1. Take a break- no matter how strong your will, sometimes the bad beats will get to you. I find a break is always good for my game (and my mental state) whether I think I need one or not.
2. Trust your abilities- if you're a winning player, you're a winning player. Look yourself up on sharkscope or whatever just for your ego. Seeing your positive results in front of you sometimes gives you confidence.
3. Remember that this is what you signed up for. Everyone who plays poker goes through this. You're going to take bad beats, so think about how you're going to react when it happens and try to be ready for it. If you're prepared for it and have a plan for dealing with it in the heat of the moment, you'll be atleast a little better off than if you just randomly flip out whenever you feel like it.
4. Get better- doing something to improve your game is great for confidence, and obviously the better you are, the better your results will be. Pick up a new book, join a training site, whatever, just do something to improve. Of anything other than taking a break, I find this to be the most helpful. Just reminding myself that I can always improve is comforting when I'm not getting the results I want.
5. Remember that running bad is in the past. What happened yesterday has no bearing on tomorrow.
Good Luck. -
surely analyze if you are really "running bad" or if it's even much below normal variance coupled with nonoptimum play.
if you can do this and you are really running bad, don't play for a few days at all.
if you are to the point of posting on a forum asking for help your head isnt in the spot to be playing i dont think.
relax a bit then get back in! -
My advice, post all of your bad beats in this forum. The endless positive responses and countless wishes of good cheer that you will undoubtebly receive will definetly be enough to snap you out of it.

Take a break and then....ALCOHOL
-
Lol your right I'm definitely not thinkin straight lol
-
i start to play bad when i run bad, then cash out my entire roll, then redposit. . .
-
OK, seriously now
For most people only a break can really work. Otherwise 'running bad' can easily turn into 'playing bad'.
Others prefer to focus and play through the bad run but I doubt if most of them have the nerves/discipline to maintain their best game on.
Take a break is my advice, I think it's the safer approach -

when i run bad i cry in pillow at night

man, how can u play 1 table? it's self torture. u should stick to proper bankroll management (i would suggest Jennifears br guide), just play ur limits where u feel comfi and don't worry about bad runs, they happen to all of us - variance is a biach!
and of course when u play listen to Buckethead!

I never said he should do this, if he plays 8, 10 12 tables at a time he isnt going to drop down to 1 table is he!

He asked what do YOU do! I only play 2 or 4 games at a time so going to 1 isnt that big a deal. I do it so i can concentrate better and get back in my groove so to speak. soon as im running better i play more tables.
maybe i should of said try reducing the number of tables you play so you can maybe spot situations where you can save chips or have those extra few seconds of thinking time. -
get a blow J and forget about it

Sack up, man up, put in some effort...you know..like using the freakin search feature to find the other billion posts regarding this same topic. In those posts you'll find some peals of wisdom..like you suck and are unwilling to put in the effort to not be a 35 percentile player. For gosh's sake man, spend some time on your game. Yes, I'm in a horrendous mood.
edit: sorry for being an a#@ -
