So, I'm playing a live tourney at the Showboat in AC on Saturday, we are down to final 12 and I have a decent stack, about $35k after losing about $15k in a pot a few hands before. I pick up JJ on the button. Guy in front of me has about $25k left, blinds are $3k/$6k and he raises to $15k. I put him on a big range due to his stack size, didn't think he had a huge hand but he needed to make a move with the blinds as big as they were. In my opinion he should have just pushed, but whatever. I decide to make my move and go all-in with my JJ's. I figured the blinds would fold unless one of them had a huge hand and he'd then call me and I'd pick up his $25k plus $9k in the blinds and double up my stack assuming I won the hand. Well, the genius in the big blind decided to call me, he had about $45k and would have been devasted by a loss. The moron flips over Q2, who in the fuck calls two raisers with that bullshit? Oh, I know, the worst player in the history of poker. There is no way he thought he had me beat pre-flop, I had an image of a tight aggressive player, didn't play too many pots, played position, etc. So, of course the clown gets a boat and knocks me out. If I win that hand I would have had 12% of all chips in the tourney and in great shape to cash. The worst part is that the f'ing idiot was high fiving his moronic friends and actually believed he made a great play. I told him to do himself and poker a favor and stop playing and had some other choice words for the donk, total Hellmuth moment on my part.
How is someone that bad? I don't get it. -
U played it soft...
-
i played it soft? are you kidding? i had one of two moves right there, push or fold. how can u excuse Q2 being played with two pushes in front of you? that is just ridiculous.
-
How big was his stack?
You said you had 35k at 3/6k, plus the original raiser had like 4bbs too, maybe he wanted to stick it in and gamble versus you. -
he had about $45k, so $10k or so more than me. he loses, he's crippled. he didn't have odds, not even close to call. Q 2 is not the hand to gamble with, if he had suited connectors or something, fine, but two absolutely random cards is just a total donk play.

He thought he clicked fold... hate MISCLICKS.

OK so that may make my list of top 10 worst beats I've heard of to cold call not 1 but 2 all ins with Q2!! Dude that is JOKERSTARS quality BULLSHIT. Only thing I can say is glad it was you I would've needed bail money!! Tough dude tough!! To happen live WOW!!! Yep definatelt would've needed bail money
-
well it was funny cuz i was hangin around the room for another tourney to start and the guy totally thought i was waiting for him. he kept lookin over, called the floor manager over and they were both staring at me, it was funny as hell. i was very close to needing bail money though, i was f'ing heated.

First I have to ask what has everyone else done at this point? I would think from an assumption and the way you talk about 3 guys in this situation, that the action has folded to the orginal raiser ( "infront of you" who is one off the button?). Where is the money bubble? what sort of image did the ogrinal raiser have and what image before did you have of the BB?
-
the action of the hand went like this, first to act (fold), 2nd guy raises to $15k (was seen as tight), next guy folds, I raise all in for $35k (was playing tight aggressive all night), the player with the Q2 was playing crap all tourney, he wasn't drinking, decided that he had the best hand or is just an asshole (i go with the latter). Money was top 7, there were 12 left.
-
i wish the idiot was drinking, i could have excused the play a bit, but he must have been doing the advanced call/fold. that is the only way to explain it, i hope hellmuth writes a chapter in his next book, i need to learn it.
-
Sure goes in the donk category. If it was money bubble I could give like 15% reason to him thinking maybe the other guy hand nothing and would take a coin flip with you and for great odds on his money but. Not being the bubble leads to even more to fold thinking that he is in BB fold pays small blind gets and then gets button protection and is probally looking at only 10 people left.
