My 19 inch samsung LCD states that it has a maximum resolution of 1280 by 1024. When I plug it into my DESKTOP, and go to the properties and display settings, this resolution is the max that I can display.
HOWEVER,
I took this monitor and plugged it into my LAPTOP for use as a secondary monitor, and now I am able to move the bar and change the resolution to 1600-1200 which I never thought was possible.
Here is my question,
How do I get this monitor to display 1600-1200 on my desktop???
I have tried getting a video card- doesnt work
i have tried to put two monitors and use the Samsung as a secondary monitor - doesnt work
Ten bucks on stars to the person who can solve my question. Thanks. -
New video card

Plug it into your desktop and go to the start menu. Go to control panel. Take a sledge hammer and put it through the screen of your monitor. Send the cash to CincyONU on party.
Seriously, i don't know - the problem is with your desktop, i guess it isn't capable of that resolution or something....but you got a new vid. card? No idea.. -
download and install powerstrip.

While I'm here, I'm having a monitor problem. I connected a Monitor directly to my laptop and the monitor is in widescreen mode, and I can't get it to use the entire screen. I've tried all of the manual monitor controls....
