Well put.
-
Sorta makes you wonder how South Carolina would have done against that group.
-
Well Boise State killed Oregon State, so they obv deserve to play in the national title game........enough said
-
What are they supposed to do? They play in the WAC and ran the table. They also beat an Oregon State team that handed USC their only loss. I say throw them up against a team like LSU and see if they can compete.
TJ -
That would be an insult to LSU.

a team in a real conference gave them a chance and that ^^^ happened
-
I understand that they win out in the WAC, but how many teams couldn't go 12-0 against those teams? Also, Boise State's win over Oregon State is not impressive, despite that Oregon St. beat USC. Bottomline is that Boise St. should get a decent bowl game, but no BCS game.
For those who care, it looks like Boise will be playing Oklahoma in the Fiesta bowl. -
if LSU played Boise State one of those little people could get hurt.
-
im hoping they get to play an OU or something. andd they get fuckking pummeled(if you will)
-
free win for whatever lucky BCS team draws them, damn
-
for some reason I felt Utah a couple years ago was a better team. I mean I thought the guys at Auburn were little (except for that one OL, my god that kids a beast).
I am glad for them though but I can't imagine they won't be a 10 point dog to either OU or Nebraska. -
How is that an insult to LSU????
-
So lets take a look at that loss to Georgia. OK first of all it was Boise St. first game of the season. Georgia, at the time was ranked #5, and it was played in Georgia!!!! That was Boise St. first mistake playing a really good team as their first game of the season. Also Boise St. played Louisville tough in their bowl game a couple of years ago and this team is actually better than that team of a couple of years ago.
-
OK, so let me ask you this. If Boise St. plays Nebraska and beats Nebraska, will Boise St. get any respect at all because of Nebraskas ranking?? Also if Boise St. plays Oklahoma, how close do they have to stay to Oklahoma for people to give Boise St. some respect???
-
define respect
-
Well Beanie, say Boise St. plays Neb. and beats them in the bowl game will that garner Boise St. any respect from people?? I seriously doubt it because they will look at Neb. ranking and say well they should have beat Neb. because #8 should beat a team ranked in the 20's. So will people again say that Boise St. played a weak Neb. team and didnt prove anything. Now if Boise St. plays an Oklahoma team, who some considered a national champ. contender until their QB screwed up, and plays them tough throughout the game and lose by lets say 14 pts. or less. Will that garner them any respect because they played a tough opponent in Oklahoma and only loss by 14 pts?? I think that would earn them more respect as a decent team than if they played Neb. and win. Also don't know why people are hating on BSU...bitch about the people who ranked them in the first place. It isn't BSU's fault they were ranked highly preseason and did what they needed to do. Which was beat every team on their schedule. Again, including the 1 team that handed USC their only loss. So, don't know if that answered your question about define respect or not.
-
If they play Nebraska and win, then you have to look at the performance. USC didn't blow out Nebraska and that was at USC. So if Boise beats them by say 21, then I would say they deserve some respect. The problem is that in that scenario you have Boise St fans that are unsatisfied because they weren't given a chance against a top team.
TJ -
Louisville is #6...if Rutgers defeats West Virginia, then Rutgers claims the Big East and an automatic BCS bid. Assume Louisville wins they arent dropping any.
alluva sudden you have only 1 spot left for a BCS bowl. will a 12-0 Boise St team not make a BCS game? -
Rick, how many teams do you think could go undefeated playing Boise St's schedule? Then ask yourself, how many losses do you think Boise St would have playing any other top 10's schedule. I think this illustrates why Boise St. is overrated.
I do agree with you that Boise St. doesn't get that much respect. I feel they do deserve some respect for going undefeated because it does take talent, but how much talent does it take against those teams? I think that's the real question that needs to be answered. Unfortunately, I don't think this question is going to be answered by one game against OU. -
If they would actually play even 1 single ranked team all season we would at least have something to gauge them by. As it stands, they rolled over teams they SHOULD have rolled over. They were never challenged by a top team, so no one knows how they will react.
And saying that a team should get respect because they *only* lost by xx amount is just stupid. You can lose by 14 but never even have a shot at winning the game. -
A lot of teams could go undefeated playing Boise St.'s schedule. I think Boise would have losses playing other top 10's schedules. Yes I agree Boise St. is overrated.
I think in order for Boise St. to get some much needed respect and to put their fans in their place, they need to schedule tougher opponents in the next couple of years. Both playing away and at home. In doing so they need to play them tough and not be a push over then I think two things will get resolved.
1. We will find out how good a program Boise St. actually is.
2. Boise will either get ridiculed or get respect.
I have told several BSU fans this and for the most part they agree. I would like to see BSU play a couple of top #25 teams a couple of times a year during say the next 3-5 years and have a winning record then I will give them atleast some respect!! -
The only team ranked ahead of them that wouldn't have run the table with that schedule is USC. Because Oregon State has their number. :)
-
OK brian, say BSU is driving late in the game against OU to set up a touchdown and possible 2 pt. conversion to win the game and the ball gets intercepted deep in OU territory and they return it for a touchdown and end up winning the game by 14 pts. Would that help out BSU in any way??
-
I agree with you; however, I don't see many top programs scheduling Boise St. because they will be afraid to lose to them. This begs another question.
-
I agree, well put. Although for the <span>"</span>Boise will either get ridiculed or get respect." point: If they play some top teams of course they will get respect, but they will also get ridicule as well.... every team gets that. They will just get it for different reasons than if they keep their powderpuff schedule.
-
Sure it would, but why are you making up ridiculus scenarios?
-
I do wonder why BSU doesn't play more top programs. It isn't like Boise isn't getting any national attention. They are on ESPN almost everytime they play, either away or at home.
