  1. Over 21 million dollars in 2010 "earnings" and the guy paid just 13.9% Federal income taxes while the rest of us is saddled with 28 - 31%. This is why people grumbling about the rich being coddled by Congress will win the argument. The taxes on capital gains are a joke when you're not talking about retired grandmothers.

Buffett has the right idea, 30% minimum tax on everyone.

    Job creators....................my ass.
  2. merge incoming
  3. Niptuck likes that tho.
  4. Or....lower it so income and capital gains are taxed at similar lower rates?

And using this to demonize Romney is absurd. In fact its pure class warfare. Attack the man on his highly dubious record, not for being taxed at a rate he never even chose.

  5. Seriously Mitt? You gave more in charity than you paid in taxes? Seriously?

I just defended Mitt Romney - fuck this thread.

Leftist idiot fucks. Sorry you're saddled with all that tax liability, raisethis. Next year, just pay that roughly 3 million that Mitt did so it's not so burdensome - but make sure you still support all the piss away our money spending programs that you love so much, too.
  6. I think people can attack romney for this because he is part of the group which allows him to pay only 13.9%. Its his people including him which make that possible. Thats what he represents. So in fact he actually does have a say in that 13.9%. I can guarantee you Democratic or left wing fundamentals arent the reason he's paying 13.9%

Or... we could attack him for the $30 million he has in banks in the Cayman Islands. Or... the Swiss bank account he had untill 2010 that he only closed bc it would look bad politically. Or the fact he said he only "bent the rules bc thats what anyone would do" when asked about his tax skirting. Or... the fact he said he was "unemployed" and that the $374,327 he made from Feb 2010 through Feb 2011 for speech fees was "not that much"...

Will somebody take the federal taxes they owed and divide it by their adjust gross income. If your middle class and it comes out to over 28% I'll kiss your ass.

This... Most middle class Americans are only paying in the 9-13% range, and if youre not youre doing it wrong.
  10. So he gave away about 33% of his income and then paid around 24% of what remained in federal taxes... what a dick...

^^ This shouldn't be ignored. Also note that some of his money gets taxed at the corporate rate first, before he gets it and its taxed again.

Probably more to look at the percentages given and see if liberals put their money where their mouth is on the rhetoric of being the party for the poor and downtrodden.

    This is what google says
Barack and Michelle Obama, who filed their 2008 taxes jointly, earned $2,656,902 last year.

The majority of their income came from the sales of the president's books, Dreams From My Father and The Audacity of Hope, reports Us Weekly.

They paid $855,323 in federal income taxes, and $77,883 in Illinois state income taxes. The couple also donated $172,050 to 37 charities

From Buffett: Billionaire investor Warren Buffett said he doesn't blame Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney for paying only about 15% of his income in taxes, saying it was misguided federal law that allowed very wealthy people who make a living "shoving around money" to pay a lower rate than average Americans.

So the OP and others who are bashing Romney, you should be bashing the tax laws.

Dont think it is fair to look at percentages. Romney is wealthy, can give away half his money, still be wealthy and never worry about a dollar in his life. If I remember right that is the first year Obama made over 250k in a year due to his book sales. He is not in the same position to donate half his money. His book sales are down and that is probably the most money he has ever made in a year. Obviously Obama is doing fine and will make bank when he leaves office but I dont think comparing percentages is quite fair. Romney probably made more last year than Obama had in his life and is worth over an estimated 200 million dollars. What % of that 200 million did he donate compared to Obamaºs total worth? honestly, I dont care

  23. Anytime you bash the tax laws it becomes a class warfare debate. So might as well just attack the rich individual so the class warfare debate ignites even faster. We ain't got all night to pontificate padre.
  24. He paid millions for the same public services that others enjoy for free. To say that he didn't pay more than his fair share is fucking idiotic.

I really don't give a shit what Warren Buffett thinks about taxation; it's absurd to think that the government is entitled to a third of what anyone earns.

Who makes the tax laws? what group of people would push for such a low rate for the wealthy? is it the one he is about to represent in our next presidential election? its his beliefs and the belief of his constituents which keep it so low. I'm not gonna go with the notion we should be bashing the tex laws, as if they're some phenomenon we dont control.

So, what percentage of anyone's income is government entitled to?
