Would have to pay the players more first. I don't know how soon that would happen. If it does happen, I would just assume that you would get 9 home first year and 8 the next, random draw. That way everyone is even.
-
Seems like it would screw up the scheduling besides just the home game issue. The way it works right now seems pretty solid with two vs each team in your own division and one vs each team from another division in your conference, a division in the other conference, and the other two teams in your conference that placed the same as you. By adding only one more it seems as if it would have to be just random. If they are going to do anything it might make sense to drop it to two preseason games and make it an 18 game schedule. That being said I think 16 is fine although making it three preseason games instead of four would be nice.

Adding another game would throw all the history of stats out whack.

I agree with dropping the 4th preseason game (as do most people i suspect)...most teams are just trying to avoid injury. It means absolutely nothing
position battles can easily be decided in the first three games -
So what? That already happened when they added the 15th and 16th games. No one ever mentions that OJ Simpson was the only RB to rush for 2000 yards in a season before the schedule was expanded to 16 games, etc.
-
i think its a really dumb idea...would rather see them play only 2 preseason and 18 regular seasons but think they should just keep it the way it is
-
They probably would mention this when discussing O.J. if he didn't make it impossible to not talk about another thing when discussing O.J.

99 problems but a bitch aint one.

I think they should have a 6-week preseason followed by 42 regular season games. Football should never stop, imo.

I dont know about this idea. It seems 16 games is already too hard on players bodies (particularly RB's, etc. . . .high impact positions). I'm not sure many could handle another 2 games. I would bet careers would become a couple years shorter than they already are if this were to happen.

The extra home game is the only problem I see with this. So, my possible suggestions:
1. Every team plays 8 home, 8 away and 1 neutral. For example, Denver could play Kansas City at a stadium somewhere in between the two cities. This could be a fun way to emphasize rivalries and create an atmosphere where the fans are 50/50. This would be hard, though, because it'd be tough to find a good enough neutral stadium for two teams to play.
2. Every team plays 8 home, 8 away and 1 International. This would help build the international appeal of the NFL and would be easier to find 16 sites around the world than to find 16 sites within the United States for the neutral game.
That said, I prefer my first suggestion. -
I like number 2 best - 16 games at Wembley please

(I may or may not be an NFL fan living in London)
Realistically though neither option is feasible IMO as they would both be logistical nightmares. Also having a 17 game season would lead to no end of bitching from teams missing the playoffs by one gaim because their game 17 was the Pats at Foxboro whereas their rivals had Baltimore at home or whatever etc etc.
The only way I could see a 17 game season working somewhat fairly would be to have all AFC teams at home and all NFC teams away, but you'd still have the potential for two teams going for a division title potentially having it decided because one lost to a 15-0 team and the other beat a 2-14 teams or whatever.
