With football in the books and the 104th consecutive championship-less season for the Cubs kicking off in 8 weeks, it is time to begin the registration process for Fantasy Baseball leagues. The 4th annual extravaganza of leagues will try to build upon the success of past years and add one additional $75 league for 2012, featuring the popular $150 H2H format (with a new twist I want to try out) and bringing the overall total to 6. (I will also be putting together the "Expert League" again, but that will have it's own thread.
While the leagues will most likely fill up primarily with returnees, any newcomers will find a large variety of formats to choose from along with very good competition from a great bunch of owners. As in the past, this OP will be the information hub and I will include links to a post specific to each individual league within this thread as well as the league homepages. A brief summary of each league can be found below, but please refer to the individual posts found in this thread for the necessary information on each league. A Master Signup List link is posted just above. I will also include links in updates throughout the thread, so navigating and/or keeping track of things should be quite easy for everyone.
All of the leagues will be hosted on ESPN and they are currently functional. Anyone that will be participating in the SAME league as last year will NOT have to re-register on ESPN, but all those joining a league for the first time will need to PM me their email address so I can invite them to join. If the past couple baseball/football seasons are any indication, new available spots will be fairly limited, especially in several particular leagues, so noobs should get their name on the potential list ASAP and it would be nice if those returning could let me know pretty soon as well.
I will update the holder/$$ shippage information as soon as possible, but will be using PP one way or the other (hopefully without transaction fees), and entry fees will be spread out over at least 3 different holders. Please be ready to signup and send ASAP before the leagues begin as it is a burden on everyone involved to be scrambling at the last minute (as well as putting yourself at a big disadvantage in prep time), and I will also have to be a little more strict on payment collection after covering a $165 entry out of pocket during football this year.
Thanks to all those that make these leagues a pleasure to run, and good luck in what I hope will be another fun and successful season of putting together and running fake baseball teams.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
League #1 : $150 H2H Points - 12 teams in a H2H format featuring a 16-game regular season, a 2 week/4-team Playoff for the top 2 teams in each Division, and a Tournament for all the league participants over the final 8 weeks of the season. This league is a Snake-Draft, has 30-man Rosters, Bi-Weekly Roster changes, Daily Lineup changes, and the points format is geared towards finding overall run-producers and run-preventers rather than worrying about particular categories. This pretty much plays similar to a fantasy football league. Spots in this league are extremely limited, but the new $50 league will feature the exact same in-season format and scoring.
League #2 : $100 Rotisserie - 12 Teams in a 6x6 format with an Auction Draft, 28-man Rosters, Bi-Weekly Roster changes and Daily Lineup changes. Intended for those feeling they have a little more knowledge/skill as well as experience with drafting via an Auction.
League #3 : $55 H2H Categories - 12 teams in a 8x8 format where each W/L of the matchup goes towards your overall record. Regular season will be 19 weeks long with 4 teams making the playoffs. This is an Auction Draft with 26-man Rosters, Weekly Roster changes and Daily Lineup changes. A great league for those looking to gain a little auction experience and/or those who prefer traditional H2H to Roto.
League #4 : $50 Rotisserie - 12 to 14 teams with a "Standard" 5x5 format, 26-man Rosters, and Weekly Lineup changes. It is a Snake-Draft with Weekly Roster changes and Daily Lineup changes. This is sort of geared to be the "rec" league, and while there are still quite a few of the regulars that participate, this is intended to introduce new guys to these leagues and be a little less intense league overall.
League #5 : $50 "Survivor" - 12 to 14 teams with a Points scoring format identical to League #1, and the bottom teams in the league will be gradually eliminated as the season progresses. It is a Snake-Draft. Each team will basically start a regular baseball lineup each day of the season. Scoring resets each Elimination period (with the overall top team(s) being exempt) so teams will have to be consistent throughout the entire season. No worries about "dead teams" in this league, no worries about being the 2nd highest scoring team during a week and losing your game to #1, just an absolute focus on keeping your own team as good as it can be and improving throughout the year. 26-man Rosters, Weekly Roster changes, and Daily Lineup changes.
League #6 (new for 2012) : $75 H2H Points - 12 teams in a H2H format featuring a 16-game regular season, a 2 week/4-team Playoff for the top 2 teams in each Division, and a Tournament for all the league participants over the final 8 weeks of the season. This league is a Auction-Draft, has 28-man Rosters, Bi-Weekly Roster changes, Daily Lineup changes, and the points format is geared towards finding overall run-producers and run-preventers rather than worrying about particular categories. This pretty much plays similar to a fantasy football league. However, here's the twist... Each team will start with $400 (as opposed to the traditional $260), and this will cover BOTH the auction to start the year and the FAAB budget (traditionally $100). The minimum bid for players throughout the season will be $1 (as opposed to $0). Spend your money as you see fit.
"EXPERT" League - The league will consist of 10 teams, with each team Snake-Drafting both an AL-Only and a NL-Only squad (28-man Rosters) in a ?x? Rotisserie format TBD by vote of this years participants. Weekly Roster changes and Daily Lineup changes. The combined totals of the standings in each league will determine the league Champion and overall order of finish. The league will be winner-take-all ($1000) and the entry fee will be based on order of finish, ranging from $0 to $250.There will be a separate thread for this league.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Overview: This league uses a Points format and resembles the fantasy football experience. Fairly deep rosters and different strategies than Roto and other H2H leagues in that specific categories really don't matter, only total production. League is also setup in a way that eliminates any sort of "dead team" syndrome because everyone is still in the running for $$ until their eliminating loss in the Tournament.
Format/Scheduling: Snake-Draft with 12 Teams split into 2 divisions (#1-#6 picks, #7-#12 picks). The regular season will be 16 games long (weeks 1-5 divisional, weeks 6-11 inter-divisional, weeks 12-16 divisional). Following the Regular Season, there will be a Playoff featuring the top 2 teams from each division and a Tournament involving all 12 teams. These will most start simultaneously and all postseason games will be 2 weeks long. (The 2 teams in the Playoff championship will also be playing their Tournament Quarterfinal game against a different team the same week).
Playoffs: The top 2 teams from each division will take part in the League Playoffs. #1 from Division A will play #2 from Division B and vice versa. Tiebreakers will be 1) H2H; 2) Division Record; 3) Most points scored; 4) MOST points allowed. In the 1st Round of the Playoffs, the #1 Seed (if applicable) will receive a Points Advantage equal to the rounded down difference in the average points scored during the regular season (1/2 APA per week). No APA in the Championship Game.
Tournament: All 12 teams will participate in the Tournament. The top 2 from each Division will be seeded #1-#4 based on Record (same tiebreaks as above, with #2 used only between the 2 division teams) and will receive 1st round byes. The remainder of the Tournament Seeding (#5-#12) will be done by POINTS SCORED during the Regular Season rather than W/L record, and distributed independent of Division. If applicable, in the 1st and 2nd Round, the higher seeded team will receive an Points Advantage equal to 1.5x the rounded down difference in the average points scored during the regular season, in the semi-finals, the advantage will be the APA, and in there will be no APA in the Championship Game.

Min & Max Limits: There is a 10-start maximum for pitchers each week (pro-rated for any 10-11 day "weeks"). This limit will be literally enforced this year and each team will be responsible for assuring they don't go over the matchup limit. If a team does happen to go over the limit, the WORST 10 (or prorated) starts will be used.
Entry Fee/Payouts: The entry fee is $150. Regular Season payouts are $300 to the #1 Seed, $200 to the other Division Winner, and $100 to the 3rd best record. The Playoff payouts are $250 to the Champion and $150 to the Runner-Up. The Tournament payouts are $400 to the Champion, $250 to the Runner-Up, and $150 to 3rd Place.

I'm in for 1, 2 and 3 for sure. I took on too much last year it hurt my overall performance, so as much as it pains me, I think I'm going to have to give up my spot in the expert league. I just have sooo much going on this summer :( I'll let you know about league 4 but I'll likely suck it up.
Thanks again for running these, I can't wait! -
God damnit was i really 4-12 in that shit last year? No wonder I got a spot so easily...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pre-Overview: This is a great league to get a cheap introduction to the Points format, which is fun (especially if you're a Fantasy Football Guy), and a very good alternative way to play H2H baseball (since the Categories formats are really still just the bastard step-child of Roto). Hence, a good practice run before getting into a H2H Points league like #1 in this collection is.
Overview/Setup: This league uses a points format where [almost] every event has either a positive or negative value and the idea is simply to accumulate as many points as possible. For example, each Run or RBI gets you 2 pts, a pitching strikeout is 3 points, while giving up a hit is -1 point, etc... You are not playing H2H against a single opponent each week though, but rather against the entire field in a series of 4-week Elimination Periods where the worst teams each Period are eliminated from the competition. It is sort of a hybrid of Roto and H2H in that you are somewhat playing on your own over the course of the season, but you still are trying to finish ahead of other teams in a more limited time-frame. There are no "dead teams" to worry about in this format, and if your own team is the one that sucks and beyond hope at some point, there is no pressure to have to finish out the season making useless moves. There also is a premium on having a team both capable of producing big points and putting up consistent results over the entire season. This is a medium to pretty deep league depending on 12-16 teams.
Setup: 16 Teams. The teams will initially be divided into 2 Divisions with the #1-#8 draft picks being in one and the #9-#16 picks in the other. After 4 Elimination Periods (16 weeks) the remaining teams will be consolidated.
Elimination Periods: Each period will be 3.5-4.5 weeks long (MLB is going with a mid-week start/end this year) depending on the "Weeks" that ESPN sets, and there will be 6 Scoring Periods. The scoring resets each period and only the totals from that period determine which teams are eliminated. However, the cumulative leader in each division (Overall in Period 5) will have elimination immunity. The lowest scoring team in each Division will be eliminated at the end of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Periods (leaving 10 teams at that point). At the end of Period #4, the lowest team in each division plus the next lowest team will be eliminated (leaving 7 teams). At the end of Period #5, the 2 lowest teams will be eliminated, leaving the final 5 teams to battle it out for 1st/2nd/3rd place. The cumulative leader for the entire year will be guaranteed 3rd place money, so if that team would finish 4th or 5th, the 3rd place team in Period #6 would not cash.
Scoring: Once again, the league uses a Points Scoring Format and here it is........

Lineup/Roster Moves: Lineup moves may be made on a daily basis. Roster moves will be on a weekly basis (Sunday 11:00pm EST processing) using a FAAB of $100.
Min & Max Limits: There is a Pitching Maximum of 7 Games Started per Week (this will be higher in any 1.5 week "weeks") and if you happen to exceed the max during a week, your 7 Worst SP totals will be used.
Trade Stuff: Trades will be allowed during the 1st week of each Period Only. Trades will be commish-veto, and input from all league members will be solicited and considered if necessary.
Obvious Stuff That I Have To Say Anyways: Once a team has been eliminated, they may no longer conduct any transactions.
Entry Fee/Payouts: The entry fee for this league is $50. 1st Place will receive $400, 2nd Place $250, and 3rd Place $150 (for 16 teams)
