  2. 21 Jump Street looks awesome.
  3. I am now looking forward to 21 jump street, great trailer.

  4. The best movie of 2012 is going to be Prometheus. I'm not sure that I've ever been more excited for any film. Blade Runner and Alien are two of my favourite films and Ridley Scott is at the top of my list of directors. The other great but frustrating thing about the movie is that details are being kept very, very quiet. There have been all kinds of rumours - including that it's an Alien prequel - but from what I read nothing about the plot is very certain and there's still just tons of speculation.

Most of the existing details can be found here.

On top of everything else, the cast looks great. Rapace (of the original Dragon Tattoo films) is really talented, Fassbender is amazing, Theron is awesome when she wants to be, and I love Guy Pearce. Ahhhhhhhhhhh this better be as amazing as all the signs are indicating.

    First thought as well.

Also didn't realize Robin Williams was in TDKR, def my most looked forward too movie.

Edit: Knew it, first TDKR trailer is fake, those are clips of Robin W. in Insomnia. Really good fake trailer tho.

Edit Edit: Watching it a second time that thing is all over the place, I hear lines from X-Men and The Fugitive with a bunch of random clips spliced together from different films.

  8. Forrest Gump 2 is going to be stellar. Turns out that the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. is just a front for the Yakuza, and that Forrest Jr. (Haley Joel Osment) is a criminal mastermind and philanthropist responsible for shipping tons of black tar heroin on the Jennys (shrimpin' boats). Forrest (Tom Hanks) is convinced that the smack is just "magic chocolate" that he can exchange for handskis from street prostitutes and airline pilots.
  9. lol level? clearly a fake trailer
  10. Jump street looks legit.

Hunger games will probably rock but I'll never admit to watching it.

Don't forget about Morgan Freeman's voiceover from Se7en. Most recognizable voice in the world.

As for 2012, it can't come quick enough. 2011 had to have been the worst year in movies that I can remember. There haven't been any movies I've looked forward to all year - and if there was, it was quickly crushed by negative reviews (J. Edgar).

I've seen two good movies in 11 months: Drive and Ides of March. Neither would be top five in any other year. Bridesmaids was decent but forgettable. Everything else has sucked.

I'm sure a decent lineup of movies will finish out the year like it always does, but nothing will make up for these last 11 months. It's odd to go through a whole year and not have a movie to look forward to. We take that sort of thing for granted. The hype and hysteria that leads up to a film like Dark Knight Rises is half the fun in the movie-going experience. There was nothing like that for me this year.
  12. Tim and Eric will break the 1 million dollar mark

+1 to Hunger Games, looks good. Act of Valor also looks solid.
  14. Act of Valor looks amazing
  15. The Snow White movie looks pretty fucking awesome. I avoided watching the trailer earlier when I saw the names "Snow White," "Kristen Stewart," and "Chris Hemsworth."

Looks good though. Glad I watched it.

I highly doubt that movie makes it to wide release in February.
  16. Love me some Denzel, this looks decent.

    Bourne Identity but w/Gina Carano?

  17. Looks like Feb is going to be a good month.
  18. Red Tails, Act of Valor and Extremely Loud, Incredibly Close all look great.

  19. Cant wait for Hunger Games. I may be crazy, but I think dank knight will be a huge letdown.

Lol, February is never a good month for movies.

Also, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close will be a 2011 release.

Honestly, how many 2011 releases have you seen? Just because you personally weren't looking forward to a lot of releases and haven't enjoyed much, doesn't mean it was a bad year. I'm obviously just guessing, but you've probably seen what, maybe 20 2011 releases? That really isn't much to go on.

I'd say Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II was one of the most anticipated films in history, and I'm sure quite large number of people were looking forward to the Transformers and Twilight films. In addition to that, there were plenty of films that garnered good to great reviews. How many of these have you even seen? Do you just hate them all?

    Midnight in Paris
    The Tree of Life
    Another Earth
    Super 8
Rise of the Planet of the Apes
    The Help
    Contagion
    Warrior
    Moneyball
    50/50
    Take Shelter
    Margin Call
    Martha Marcy may Marlene
    Like Crazy
    Melancholia
    The Artist
    The Descendants
    Arthur Christmas
    Hugo
    The Muppets
    Shame
    A Dangerous Mind
    My Week with Marilyn

And we can also still look forward to:

    Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy
    Young Adult
Sherlock Homes: A Game of Shadows
    Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol
    The Adventures of Tin Tin
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
    War Horse
    Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
    The Iron Lady

Just to be clear, I'm not saying that2011 was an amazing year for movies. I think it was fairly average. I just don't see how it was so terrible and it certainly produced more then two good films.

Personally, I think it has been pretty amazing...

Certified Copy, Melancholia, and The Tree of Life each would be in my top 25 of the last decade.

Then you also have Soderbergh's best in years in Contagion and smaller releases like Meek's Cutoff and Cold Weather, which were both pretty fantastic. And as your lists illustrates, that's just cracking the surface.

edit. to be fair, some of these were at festivals in 2010, but didnt hit theatres til this year

I may end up agreeing with you, I just haven't seen enough yet to make that distinction. I haven't even seen half of the films I listed yet, I just wanted to mention that plenty of films are getting great reviews and creating buzz.

Have you seen The Artist yet?
    1
  25. Gotcha, there's still a lot left for me to see too. Haven't seen The Artist yet, but want to. That, Martha Marcy May Marlene, Shame, A Dangerous Mind, The Skin I Live In, and Another Earth probably top the list of those I want to see that have already been released.

Really looking forward to Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and A Separation as well
