21 as the legal age to gamble

    As I mentioned in another post just now, why the heck is 21 the legal age to gamble? You can go get lung cancer smoking, vote for crooked politicians, buy bad quality porn, all at the age of 18, so why for fecks sake do you have to wait until 21 before you can gamble? Oh, and what about drinking too for that matter?

    Drinking was to lower the amount of drunk driving. Maybe it's 21 at casinos because they serve booze not sure though.

    Because apparently the government thinks it's perfectly acceptable to kill or be killed in the millitary at 18, but not be able to gamble a little bit of money in a poker game. Glad to see that the country has their priorites and concerns straight! But hey, i'm just some drunken rambling bum...not like politicians give a rats arse what I think!

    it's different by state and territory.

    some indian casinos are 18 up

    Same reason an 18 year old cant hangout in a bar. Restraunts are diffrent of course but that is the reason.

    In Oregon you can gamble at 18, as long as you aren't drinking. Move here. Go Pacific Northwest.

    in vegas you get free alco when u play anything..indian casinos and others you have to pay for alco thats y..

    I'm sure the reason that the gambling age is 21 to let people understand the importance of money and how to work hard to get it. I guess they just figure that if you havent learned this by the time your 21 then you never will

    Blame MADD <mother against drunk driving> basically the wrong people got kiled in drunk driving accidents and the movement began. It makes no sense, politricks.

    I work at a casino in Minnesota. The gambling age in MN is 18 and the casino I work at sells alcohol. So 21 is not becaause alcohol is served.
