Theres no law saying people must pay federal income tax

yeah but there are a bunch of cases where people have challenged this and spent time in a federal pound me in the ass.

Yeah thats another thing that kills me how the hell can you tax people who are not taxed in the first place.

Not to hijack my own thread but the fair tax is begining to make more and more sense to me.

I'm sorry, I must have missed this in the Obama platform? Please show me where Obama said he wants to give a tax break to the 40% of Americans that don't pay taxes.

He wants to give a tax break to 95% of Americans. 95% do not pay taxes, including said 41% OP refers to. Don't get your panties in a wad, sax, I doubt he'll do anything he's promising anyway. In fact, my guess is that there will be tax increases.

OP- I think if this really bothers you you need to worry about yourself a little more, you know what i mean. Why do you pay taxes? Do you do it because you feel it is moraly correct, or because you don't want to go to jail and you "have to". My guess would be the latter. Therefore your anger is not because it is morally wrong, but because you need to do it and they don't. Don't playa hate brotha. Tax evasion is always an option!

when i hear dems talk about what they're gonna do, a quote runs through my mind:

"lord please forgive them for then know not what they do."

I'll have to give the tax thing some thought. It just doesnt make sense to me. At any rate, Obama's plans / promises will all be shaped by what develops in the economy over the next few months. Anyone that thinks he's going to plow ahead with promises in this environment has obviously had a lot more to drink than I have tonite :)

the gov't gets a big chunk of money that is not from the income tax. cut the size of gov't to what was laid out in the constitution, if there is still a need for extra revenue i would be in favor of the fairtax.

Actually, rich people are the backbone of our economy. Without rich people, there would be no jobs. If you really buy into Republicans wanting to give tax breaks to the rich and screw the middle class, then I don't know what to tell you. I pay less taxes under Bush than I paid under Clinton and I'm solidly middle class.
