  1. I guess I am stupid, because I can't remember the right formula to figure this out and it's not on the notes. 5 bucks on starts for the right answer and formula.

    A 75mg dose of penicillin is given to a patient. Pinicillin leaves the body at a rate jof 6.5% per hour.
    Find a formula for the amount A(mg) of penicillin in the body t hours after the dose is given.

    I thought it was A=75-.935t but it isn't working out I don't think.
  2. A = 75 - 75*.065t if it is 6.5% of the total dose

    A = 75*(.935^t) if it is 6.5% of what is remaining in the body
  3. It's a trick question - 75mg dose does not exist. It comes in 100mg only.......

    And lol at easy question.

  5. So which one is it? Because the next question says how much is left in the body after 24 hours and if you use the first formula it's -42 so its 0. So I guess it's a trick question?

  9. if you're studying linear equations, then it'll be the first one...if you're studying decay, etc then the 2nd one
  10. Here is why I am confused. Because, it says in my notes that if r is the decimal rate of change, then a=1 +or- r

    so it should be 1-.065, which equals .9350. so .9350 is in the equation somewhere.
    I just don't know what the damn formula looks like, because we had a snow day and he told us to figure it out ourselves. I HATE CALCULAS

  11. were doing growth and decay. It's fucked up because your second formula is right as long as it's growth, but when you use it for decay it gives crazy answers.

  13. The answer it will never leave the body. It will get small enough that it is insignificant, but there will always be an amount of penicillin in your body.
    exp.
    Start with 100
    Take 6.5% away from it
    Continue taking 6.5% away
    Your # will get rediculously small, but you will never get it to reach 0, just have a lot of .000000000000000000's
