Wish they had been courageous and just ruled all state sanctioned marriage as unconstitutional

Reason: But otherwise I like the ruling -
when did it become cool to support everything gay.
-
When it became cool to support liberty and equality under the law.

I've got nothing against gays. Two of my first cousins are gay. I just don't get peoples' obsession with the topic. Just tilts me when ppl compare it to the civil rights movement of the 60's. Gays enjoy the same rights as everyone else except for the marriage thing, which is more of a burden than an advantage.

Yeah...favorable tax rates, power of attorney rights, survivorship benefits...these things are wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more of a burden than they are an advantage. -
Adoption? Also note that the marriage laws are important because it gives the spouse rights to determine medical care for an unconscious partner, visitation rights, inheritance rights, etc... It is about all the legal things that a marriage contract ensures the state will respect and enforce.

What about the marriage penalty for taxes? Arent you allowed to leave your stuff to a gay person as long as you have it in your will?
-
My tax rates haven't gotten any more favorable since I got married. Maybe I'm doing it wrong. Are none of those other advantages covered by civil unions?

way to go 9th circuit
-
Civil unions would be fine if that's all heterosexuals got too.
-
another crushing blow against the Obama agenda
-
it's not equal rights if one group of people can do something another group of people can not (excluding prisoners obv). it's really pretty simple
-
I will laugh and laugh when the lesbians start paying each other alimony.

Maaybe next they can pass a law where its okay to marry our pets. Why stop now? Like they cant find a way to skew the law and prove consent. You dont think this law is skewing definitions? get real I'd say were about 10 years away from Bill being able to marry Fido. The sad thing is you probably feel bill deserves that choice. Which basically means you support beastiality. Its people like you ruining this counttry. Your cries for individual freedom are ruining this country.
If I shoot an animal is that the same as shooting a human? dont think so. So why do you want to try and put them on equal footing? If you were to rape a goat could it press charges against you?
The moral fabric of our society is going down the tubes. We are a nation under God. We follow his rules. His rules state the definition of marriage. Its not up to me or you to change those laws to fit our own personal beliefs. we either live to accept them or we have the choice to move somewhere else. You have the choice to move somewhere else. Not sure why im even arguing with somebody who thinks zoophilia should be legal. I am in the right country for that. You're not.
You ever say the pledge in school? One nation under God. -
Why does the government regulate marriage? What is the compelling state interest involved? Lawyers not permitted to answer.
-
I really dont get the whole equality argument. Nobody is saying that a homosexual cant get married. The homosexual just cant get married to someone of the same sex. Just like me, as a heterosexual can't get married to someone of the same sex. Seems like the law applies equally for everyone. I wasnt aware that the law was supposed to take into account someone's supposed feelings.

was this country founded by people that wanted to escape religious, political persecution?

When can we ban Hollywood weddings? They are destroying the sanctity of marriage.
