Didnt know he was dealing with any serious medical illness, so kind of a surprise. Was crypt keeper old tho
82 is a pretty good run, RIP -
He had dementia didn't he? Maybe now that he is gone and done meddling in his teams operations they can acheive some success.
-
Mama always told me if you have nothing good to say, say nothing at all

pretty much this. dont wish death on anyone, and this guy was a titan in the game, but he'd lost touch with day to day football operations years ago

Edited By: resilient Oct 8th, 2011 at 04:19 PMnot so much. Bill Parcells wanted to draft Marcus Spears with the 11th pick in 2005, and Jones insisted on DeMarcus Ware. Among other Jones acquisitions this decade are undrafted free agents Miles Austin and Tony Romo, and 7th round selection Jay Ratliff.Originally Posted by stackinsideways

Jerry makes his share of mistakes but he's no Al Davis. And he never will be with his son Stephen working closely by his side, eventually set to take over. -
RIP.

Just win baby, just win.
R.I.P. -
RIP Al
Just win baby!
Raider Nation will always remember the greatest Raider of them all. -
As a lifelong Raider fan and season ticket holder in the LA days I can honestly say I loved him him as an owner. The last 10 years were obviously brutal when he was literally losing his mind but before that the Raiders were one of the greatest and well known franchises in sports with a tradition of winning. He was never scared to spend money on players he thought would bring rings to Oakland/ Los Angeles/ Oakland. It's easy to bash him as an owner when you're 22 years old and only know of the last decade of Raiders football.

RIP. The man has done a lot for the sport, but I, along with most of Raider nation have been waiting for this day for quite a while. We're free!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm really looking forward to one of these threads about Mike Brown.

RIP and he did some great things for the NFL, but this is great news for the Raiders organization. My first reaction to reading it was "Woohooo!" I literally said that out loud.
Couldn't have said it better.Originally Posted by Z-Fresh
