    At least their music is their own. Green Day hasn't wrote an original rift their entire careers. Everyone from Noel Galleger to Avril Levigne have accused them of stealing songs. The rest of their entire catalog are songs from some pre 1990's punk band.

    Was never a fan, but I think the most overrated band in history is Foo Fighters. I wasn't a fan of Nirvana either.

    I don't want to be slaughtered in my sleep by a couple of wig wearing cats for saying the Grateful Dead so I'll say the Dave Matthews Band is the most overrated band in the history of music instead. You can't get any worse than them without delving into rap music.

    Green day is a horrible band. Who names there album Dookie? I like albums with cool names like Dark Side of The Moon, Straight outta Compton, 1984.
    Green Days whole shtick is We are ugly losers, and tards lets be in a band that is anti cool since we can't be cool. Punk was important to music because it meant four guys could start a band in their garage without being able to play. Green Day is Like commercial Punk.
    I couldn't stand them in 94 or 2004, definitely one band that inspires loathing.

    Dookie, Insomniac, and Nimrod are three of the greatest pop punk albums ever written. American Idiot is an awesome concept that can only really be appreciated if you listen to it all the way through.

    To whoever accused Greenday of ripping off other bands, that is the most ridiculous horseshit I have ever heard. They are a powerchord driven punk band. How can you rip off a bunch of songs that contain 4 repetitive power chords. Bands have been repeating the same basic progressions for 30+ years. If they are stealing riffs then I guess that means Nirvana must have stolen all their riffs from Boston. Get a fucking clue.

    Also to the poster that mentioned Sum41 in the same sentence and Blink182 and Greenday, I hope your testicles get caught on a wire coat hanger.

    Yes, this is exactly why punk was important. Its' so bad musicians could play in a band. It had nothing to do with giving a voice to blue collar workers whom were being exploited by governments and big business which in turn caused a philosophical, political and artistic movement within the youth of England and America.

    Nothings Shocking and Ritual are amazing albums, and Strays was pretty solid too considering the expectation you would have for a band that hadnt put out a CD in over a decade.
