I will try to make this short. I got married about three weeks ago. My wife and I went into (supposedly) the best place in the area to pick out our rings. She picked out an A. Jaffe ring for me that was on clearance for about $950. The ring was on clearance because this store was no longer carrying this brand of ring and was trying to clear their inventory. She had the ring paid off before the wedding day, but when we picked up the ring it was too large. They had sized me when we bought the ring and simply got the ring in the wrong size, I could make the ring fall off if I wiggled my hand enough.

We got an insurance appraisal with the ring that valued the ring at $1,300. Now they are telling me that A. Jaffe is refusing to re-size the ring again due to a dispute with the company, so they can re-size themselves but it would leave a very obvious line in the ring. We both agree that this is unacceptable, so they are offering for me to come in an trade for another $950 ring. I feel as though the ring we purchased is worth $1,300, so I am entitled to a ring of equal or greater value. Obviously the other rings that they have for $950 are worth in the $600-700 range so I am feeling a little duped. Would you take anything worth less than a $1,300 ring in this case, especially since none of this was any fault of my own?
CLIFFS:
-Purchased ring for $950 (clearance) that is worth $1,300.
-Company ordered the wrong size and A. Jaffe is no longer doing business with the company where we purchased the ring.
-Company wants me to exchange the ring for another ring they are selling for $950. All of these rings are worth $600-700.
-I feel as though I should get a ring of similar value to the one I am losing, not similar price.
I don't know am I in the wrong? Need any more info?
EDIT: I guess I was not clear above, my wife did pay for my wedding band. -
The ring is the last of your worries, bro.
GET. OUT. NOW!
Before it's too late. -
If they won't exchange it for the 1300 then demand a full refund and go somewhere else.

I don't know of any stores that let you return merchandise and receive more than you originally bought it for. Take it somewhere else. Doubt they budge off 950.
-
are you stoned? Why would they give you any more than $950 store credit
-
Op is an idiot.
-
Just return for what you paid and save the headache, if its a chick cashier put her in diapers.
-
i figure if u dont want a line on it its ok to take another for 950 but if u feel the line is unacceptable u shd get 1 for greater value

What is it about the ring that would mean a competent jeweller could not resize it w/o leaving a line? Most resizing is doen on the inside of the band where most rings are simply a gold band. What incompetent boob could not cut, solder, and polish your slave band and leave it spotless?

Take a shit in his mouth, leave. $2 bill, then cartwheel out of the store

My wife bought my wedding band for me...mine was only like $250, and I really don't even care if I have one, but I thought it was pretty standard practice for them to buy your band?

Hmm I guess my wife got the best of me. I just bought my own like a chump.

Tell her she owes you...just did a bit of google research, and it seems like it's supposed to be either the bride or the bride's family to buy the guy's wedding band.

you are a dude. wtf do you need a 1k ring? $100 will get you a decent one from jareds

LOLOL@ an insurance appraisal being anywhere near retail value. If it's the best place around, just exchange it for the $950.
-
Fuck that! I spent enough money on my wife's engagement ring and matching band that i decided I wanted some bling too. Wish I would have googled beforehand. Like a chump, I paid for my own band ($1000).

As for OP, can't you take the ring to another jeweller to get it sized? My band was a little loose when I first got it, but like a real man, I grew into it.
